Your Opportunity

Assist and provide administrative support to Human Resources (HR) with various activities and processes and play a major part in ensuring excellent HR customer service.

Core Responsibilities
    Participate in the hiring processes from start to finish including:
    • Advertising
    • Application processing using applicant tracking system
    • Interviewing
    • Orientation
  • Manage the I-9 verification & E-Verify processes
  • Administer and track employee visa process
  • Assist with Employee Development activities including conducting training and class preparation
  • Recruit and promote Smithfield Foods HPD at colleges and universities and high schools and maintain a liaison with key personnel, special/selected groups including conducting farm tours, attending job fairs, career days, public events, etc.
  • Assist with intern programs
  • Be proficient with report writing
  • Assist as needed in all HR processes including:
    • Data entry
    • Policy administration
    • STAMP management
    • Create and distribute reports
    • Employee benefits
    • Assist employees with Leave of Absence (LOA) process
    • Auditing HR processes to ensure compliance
    • Filing
    • Employment verification and all other related requests
    • Receptionist duties
  • Responsible for complying with all environmental laws and procedures to which Smithfield subscribes
  • Report all environmental issues immediately to the supervisor
  • Read and understand the company's emergency notification process and be responsible for reviewing that policy at the work sites
  • Responsible for understanding all safety requirements of the job and performing the job in compliance with the safety requirements

  • Associate Degree and a minimum of two years administrative experience in Human Resources or related field required.
  • Proficient with computers including Microsoft Office
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish (required in applicable regions)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent group presentation and training skills
  • Able to maintain multiple tasks at once
  • Must have strong initiative for continuous improvement in all duties
  • Able to ensure integrity of confidential employee and company information
  • Swine production experience helpful
  • Must be an excellent team player
  • Have a valid driver's license and able to pass an MVR
  • Must be able to remain focused and successfully perform in an ever-changing and stressful environment
  • Must be available for occasional travel
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends when necessary
  • Excellent organizational, initiative, and follow-through skills
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Must be able to tolerate blood, animal dander, manure, dust, odors, and frequently noisy conditions for short periods of time
  • Must understand that Smithfield is a producer of high-quality pork for human consumption and must be supportive of the mission of raising swine for meat
