Job Description
Join our team who is committed to the delivery of the highest quality health care service. We are seeking a Patient Financial Counselor that is self-motivated, energetic, and a take charge individual.

Responsibilities:

 
  1. Assist clients with applying and understanding the Sliding Fee Program, BadgerCare Plus, or related programs in client’s language or with interpretation services.
  2. Advocate and work closely with outside agencies/organizations to assist and advocate for clients with difficult or complex issues relating to BadgerCare Plus, ACA, or Sliding Fee Program.
  3. Internal and external outreach activities regarding availability of Sliding Fee Program, BadgerCare Plus, Affordable Care Act and related programs.
  4. Responsible for preparing and maintaining detailed accurate documentation required for eligibility, consistent case coordination, follow-up and review of cases with Sliding Fee Scale, BadgerCare Plus, or related programs in the organizations Practice Management software.
  5. Responsible for attending and retaining information related to educational and training opportunities for Sliding Fee Program, BadgerCare Plus, and additional programs as required.
  6. Answer all inquiries (phone, electronic, in-person) relating to patient billing questions, patient/insurance related questions, Sliding Fee Program, BadgerCare Plus, Affordable Care Act, and any other internal or external payment options/programs.
  7. Receive and respond to all collection agency vendors, attorneys, or others concerning patient accounts.
  8. Work with collection agency to refer patient accounts and report payments.
  9. Document all interactions in the EHR clearly, concisely, and accurately to facilitate a comprehensive and accurate account history.
  10. Accept payments, set up payment plans and, where applicable, complete daily site deposits and maintenance of site change funds.
  11. Work closely with other departments within Revenue Cycle to answer patient concerns and questions fully and accurately.
  12. Display empathy and understanding when interacting with patients, maintaining composure in difficult situations.
  13. Provide Medicaid / Badger Care enrollment assistance.
  14. Process and apply Sliding Fee scale application.

Qualifications:
 
  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Superior oral and written communication skills.
  3. Working knowledge of computers and office applications software.
  4. Ability to relate well to people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  5. Strong understanding of insurances preferred.
  6. Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
