Job Responsibilities:
Retrieve and/or files medical records.
Receive and file medical record reports, lab results, x-rays, insurance letters, etc.
Deliver records to requesting areas.
Records will be processed (released/requested, etc.) daily.
Respond to telephone inquiries.
Select and prepare medical records for storage according to established procedures.
Maintain medical records according to protocol.
Receive and screen requests, establish priority and respond to requests for medical information.
Receive and send routine clinic requests.
Refer possible clinic liability cases to supervisor.
Ensure requests are valid and accompanied by proper authorization.
Interact professionally with outside requesters, physicians, lawyers, HMO reviews and insurance company personnel.
Assure that information requested matches information sent.
Assure that copy requests are completed following proper release protocol.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Ability to read, write, comprehend medical terminology and to be knowledgeable of medical record correspondence procedures.
Possess interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with internal and external personnel.
Ability to concentrate and exercise judgment in reviewing and selecting appropriate information.
Ability to relate well to people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
