Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
This Environmental, Health & Safety Manager is responsible for the establishment, implementation and enforcement of Bauer’s environmental, health and safety policy to ensure a safe work environment for Bauer employees and to ensure compliance with all applicable governmental and insurance carrier regulations. The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager with indirect reporting to President. 

JOB FUNCTIONS
Include the following, and other duties as assigned:
•    Establish a sound  EH&S policy for company in compliance with established industry best practices and in compliance with all applicable governmental and insurance regulations. 
•    Dissemination and implementation of company EH&S policy in the form of training, coaching and distribution of relevant printed material. Keep training logs to make sure that all appropriate personnel are current with their required training. 
•    Enforcement of company EH&S policy through audits, inspections, testing and evaluations. 
•    Rectify EH&S deficiencies by keeping a current, well documented action plan log.  Prioritize identified deficiencies and ensure actions are taken by responsible parties to mitigate or eliminate the deficiency.   Participate in Company’s weekly Monday AM management meeting.  Notify company management and relevant personnel of EH&S deficiencies and ask for assistance where relevant. 
•    Procurement and inventory of relevant Safety Equipment  and Personal Protective Equipment.  
•    Establish and implement company’s Emergency Response Plan including facilitating on-site drills to verify preparedness
•    Serve as the Technical resource for all relevant, plant, environmental permits.
•    Provide compliance specifications/recommendations to company management
•    Ensure accurate and timely EHS recordkeeping, document management and effective case management.
•    Prepare, maintain, and submit all records and reports required by the Company and regulatory agencies including the OSHA 300 log and injury records, Annual Storm water Reporting, Wastewater Reports, etc.
•    Lead and/or assist emergency response activities following workplace incidents.
•    Lead the ongoing development and review of continuous improvement programs related to workplace safety, air, water, wastewater and solid/hazardous wastes.
•    Lead the development, review, and revision of safety and environmental training programs. 
•    Lead, coordinate, and participate in EHS performance improvement initiatives.
•    Track, report, and analyze EHS performance and implement corrective action as necessary.
•    Ensures equipment, operations and facilities are in compliance with OSHA standards, inclusive of all state and local requirements.
•    Responsible for the Company wide Hazardous Material program and training. Including the internal use and storage of materials as well as HAZMAT requirements for transportation.
•    Other duties as assigned.

REPORTS TO THIS POSITION
No direct reports to this position.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•    Minimum five years of experience in the environmental, health, & safety field with a preference in manufacturing. Bachelor’s degree in related field can be substituted for two years of required experience.
•    Must be knowledgeable of safety and environmental regulations including but not limited to: air, wastewater, storm water, solid and hazardous waste regulations.
•    Strong organizational, follow-up and implementation skills
•    Strong leadership, training, problem solving, and decision making skills.
•    Effective oral and written communication skills are essential.
•    Demonstrated organizational, communication, research, and analytical skills.
•    Excellent Microsoft Office skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental or occupational health sciences strongly preferred.
•    OSHA training and certification.
•    Experience managing a company-wide EH&S Program.
•    Professional designation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Mobility to work station, repetitive foot action of both feet, repetitive hand action of both hands, wrist action, finger dexterity, manual dexterity, eye/hand/foot coordination, color (ability to determine), seeing, hearing, walking, sitting and climbing ladders.  Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, within OSHA requirements for load capacities.

Typical work environment will be production and office facilities.  Degree of travel required is low, but typically will be local.  

Working hours are Monday through Friday; occasional overtime and weekend hours will be required.  Work conditions may include elevated noise levels requiring hearing protection and extreme temperatures, both high and low.
