Job Description
Join our team who is committed to the delivery of the highest quality health care service.  We are seeking a full-time Vice President of Advancement that is self-motivated, energetic, and a take charge individual.
 
Job Responsibilities:
 
  1. Responsible for strategies and activities that promote and advance the interests of Sixteenth Street through the public image, external relationships, business development, and fund development.
  2. Creates an integrated approach to organizational advancement within the functions of Fund Development, Communications, Government Relations, Public Relations, Community Relations and associated functions.
  3. Supervises the following staff positions:  Director of Communications, Grant Writer and Fund Development Manager, Director of Annual Giving, Director of Patient and Community Engagement, and Marketing and Communications Manager.
  4. Develops and implements a comprehensive fund development plan to advance all fundraising activities related to the organization’s annual fund, special projects, capital campaigns and endowment.  
  5. Conducts periodic program audits and updates the fund development plan accordingly. 
  6. Integrates the fund development plan into the agency’s overall strategic plan. 
  7. Adheres to industry best practices and code of conduct as set forth by AFP – Association of Fundraising Professionals, CFRE International, AHP – Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and other credentialing bodies.
  8. Works with President and CEO, Board of Directors and internal leadership to develop organizational leadership and capacity to support fund development activities, including but not limited to one to one and group education and training, coordinating Advancement Committee and Patient Advisory Council activities, chairing internal Celebrity Roast Event committee and managing volunteers.
  9. Manages Annual Fund activities including grant submission and management of grant awards, major gift development, planned gifts, Celebrity Roast event, direct mail and year-end appeal, Board Leadership and Employee appeals.
  10. Develops donor focused messaging and works with Director of Communications and Director of Annual Giving to produce case statements, donor newsletter, e-newsletters and announcements, videos and other publications.
  11. Works with Director of Communications to develop and implement strategic marketing, public relations and internal communications plans.
  12. Conducts and maintains confidential prospect research files on individuals, corporations and private foundation donors/prospects for major gift cultivation and annual fund solicitation.  Researches and identifies new potential donor/grantor prospects to add to the annual fund solicitation pipeline.
  13. Manages donor stewardship activities including special events, tours, open houses, and personal visits.
  14. Manages annual community campaign relationship with United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County coordinating agency and Board campaigns.
  15. Manages donor records, gift entry and appeal tracking in the Agency’s Donor Database. 
  16. Generates constituent profiles, mailing lists and fundraising activity reports. Responsible for wealth and capacity screening and setting gift targets.
  17. Analyzes and reports on trends, appeal performance and return on investment on all activities.
  18. Responsible for development and oversight of the department budget. Ensures best appropriation of fiscal resources in support of the department’s infrastructure and fundraising priorities.
  19. Supervise any Advancement staff.
Qualifications: 
 
  1. Bachelor’s degree.
  2. Minimum 5 years of comprehensive experience in fundraising.
  3. Minimum 2 years of experience with supervision of professional staff.
  4. CFRE professional preferred.
  5. Experience securing major gifts from individuals and foundations.
  6. Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  7. High level of computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and direct experience in Raiser’s Edge or other CRM system.
  8. Effective interpersonal communication skills and experience in meeting with top administrators, executives and community leaders.
  9. Ability to plan and organize multiple tasks while working as part of a team.
  10. Ability to relate well to people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  11. Successful criminal background check.
