Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center (RRB/ITC) is a dynamic hub for government, business, commerce and the community, in the heart of the nation’s capital. As the first and only federal building dedicated to both public and private use, the Reagan Building is the official World Trade Center Washington, DC, featuring a premier conference and events center, executive office space, attractions and exhibits, retail, dining, parking and public programming.
Trade Center Management Associates (TCMA, A Drew Company), the exclusive manager of the RRB/ITC, is seeking an Assistant Director of Event Planning to lead our Event Planning team.
As a senior leader, you are responsible for the entire event planning process. Our mutual success is mainly dependent on the leadership, planning skills, internal and external client relationships, and enthusiasm you bring to your role. As you oversee the planning process and mentor and train the planning staff, you represent the company’s senior leadership, responsible for supporting and instilling our Mission, Vision, and Values in others.
Job Responsibilities
Plan events as assigned and dictated by business levels and client priorities.
Direct and lead the event planning effort.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of the event planning processes from start to finish.
Assist the planning team in reaching the client’s goals and objectives.
Stay abreast of industry trends in live and hybrid events, meetings and conferences, special events, and weddings through benchmarking, trade publications, and attend event networking and discussions.
Develop processes and procedures to streamline day to day operations.
Event management also includes but is not limited to conducting site visits, in-person and virtual client meetings, event tastings, being onsite for set-up, day-off, and tear-down of events and support as required.
Given the current event restrictions, the ADEP will be responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of CDC protocols, existing local, state, federal, and Ronald Reagan Building guidelines and regulations, and designing Safer and Secure events.
In addition to working with the event planning team and clients to plan, execute and implement their events, the ADEP will be required to work on special projects (as assigned) to support our organization.
Background and Skills
Previous event planning experience in an upscale hotel, conference center, or convention center
Excellent presentation, organizational, and communication skills
Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Miracle
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while delivering exceptional quality and customer service
Flexible schedule. Weekend, early and evening hours are required as determined by business volume and support
Previous management experience
Bachelor's degree is preferred
