Do Big Picture

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Solar Electrical Journeyman with at least 2 years working in the industrial electrical field. Must be able to be a leader and trainer on solar electrical tasks. Safety is always the first priority, so you must be able to understand and abide by all electrical safety regulations, procedures and operations. Conducting DC and MV terminations, energization, working with conduit and splicing among other electrical activities are some of the tasks that you may be responsible for in this position.

KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  1. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
  2. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
  3. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
  4. Install, repair, and maintain motors, transformers, generators, lights, appliances, circuits, wiring, and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations
  5. Study plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and/or installations
  6. Repair and maintain high voltage systems
  7. Organize work by receiving and studying work orders; gather tools and supplies
  8. Read prints, layout work and install new service
  9. Repair electrical problems by replacing faulty parts and components
  10. Maintain electrical systems by conducting system tests; complete preventive maintenance requirements
  11. Keep supplies ready by placing orders
  12. Maintain safe work environment by following standards and procedures; comply with codes
  13. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; read technical publications
  14. Accomplish maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed
  15. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  16. Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
  17. All other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  5. Ability speak and understand English, ability to speak Spanish is a plus
  6. Some ability to read plans

  8. Ability to operate equipment such as: table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging and form systems
  9. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, procedure manuals, and load charts

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


A. High school diploma or GED
B. Minimum two years of related experience
C. Trade or technical school certification/diploma
D. Apprentice aptitude test
E. Union specific training (if applicable)
F. Current driver's license

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

A. Ability to frequently work in heat and other weather conditions

B. Frequently crouch, kneel, squat, climb

C. Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs

D. Frequently reach high and low places

E. Ability to see, hear, balance, and review job sites

F. Ability to stand and walk throughout work day

G. Ability to use repetitive hand/arm/leg movements
