Job Description
ERG is a multidisciplinary environmental consulting firm offering a broad range of professional services in engineering, science, information technology, and communications. We have an immediate opening for an air dispersion modeler, who will work full-time with a federal government public health agency.

This position will involve working both individually and on teams to support multiple projects. Typical support activities will include a combination of emissions characterization, atmospheric fate and transport modeling over different spatial and temporal scales, analysis and interpretation of ambient air monitoring data, and writing detailed technical reports.

Required qualifications:
 
  1. A B.S. degree in a related discipline (e.g., atmospheric science, meteorology, environmental engineering, chemical engineering) and at least 3 years of professional experience -OR- an advanced degree in a related discipline and 1 to 3 years of professional experience. Minimum 3.0 GPA. Candidates selected for interviews will be asked to submit transcripts.
  2. The ability to conduct dispersion modeling analysis in support of human health risk assessments and in accordance with best practices, literature, and regulatory guidelines.
  3. Experience with running AERMOD, including deriving emission rate inputs, processing surface and upper air meteorological data sets, and interpreting results. Experience or familiarity with running the HEM model.
  4. Familiarity with EPA’s Guideline on Air Quality Models and additional models and resources available from EPA’s Support Center for Regulatory Atmospheric Modeling. A commitment to maintain awareness of the latest scientific advances in air dispersion modeling techniques and air quality studies.
  5. The ability to perform statistical and geospatial analyses of air quality data and experience with programming or scripting languages, such as Fortran, R, or Python.
  6. Excellent written/verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and time management skills.

Preference will be given to individuals in the metropolitan Atlanta area. However, the employee may also work from an ERG office in Lexington, MA; Arlington or Chantilly, VA; or Morrisville, NC. Telework options are also available.

The preferred candidate must undergo a background check to obtain government security clearance.
