Description

This senior expert will be a key member of Nokia's Global Public Relations team - creating, managing and executing media and PR strategies in the North American market to raise and enhance Nokia's profile and ultimately support the company's business objectives.

You will work with other Corporate Affairs and business team experts to ensure Nokia's North American narrative is clear and relevant and develop and execute a strategic media and public relations plan to position Nokia as a technology leader in its field. Alongside other media and public relations activity, you will design, set up and support media and influencer meetings for our senior executives, and develop social media content in conjunction with our social media team. You will work with our Data and Analytics team to monitor and measure success and make continual improvements to your strategy.

Importantly, you will work hand-in-glove with our Americas Government Affairs team to position Nokia as leading and shaping relevant public policy debates and use your existing contacts enhance campaigns.

You will also work closely with our North American Business Group Communications and Marketing teams to be a senior communications point of contact for customers, advising on media and public relations activity. You will have open access to our world-famous Bell Labs where you will work alongside other communications professional to discover and develop stories about Nokia's cuttings edge technologies.

This role is an individual contributor role but you will have dotted lined experts working to you and an agency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Protect, increase and enhance Nokia's media and public relations profile in North America by creating and delivering media and PR plans, and North American crisis management
  • Lead the development of a cohesive NAM media and public relations plan and execute it in collaboration with other relevant Nokia NAM teams.
  • Ensure NAM narrative is aligned with broader Nokia communications and public relations goals. Work seamlessly with Corporate and Business Groups.
  • Use your extensive media contacts to help Nokia build better relationships and be positioned as a leader in its industry. Focus should be on tier one print, broadcast and social.
  • Position Nokia as technology leader. Tell the innovation story using Bell Labs, a "local" tech innovation hub.
  • Work with other Corporate Affairs and business team experts to ensure Nokia's North American narrative is clear and relevant, and deliver it via media and influencer content including press releases, features, scripts, talking points, etc.
  • Set up and support media and influencer meetings for senior executives, and develop social media content in conjunction with our social media team.
  • Work hand-in-glove with our Americas Government Affairs team to position Nokia as leading and shaping relevant public policy debates. Bring your existing political media contacts to bear for Nokia
  • Work with our Data and Analytics team to monitor and measure success and make continual improvements to your strategy.
  • Work closely with our North American Business Group Communications and Marketing teams to be a senior communications point of contact for customers with regards to media and public relations work.
  • Identify and engage with influencers in tech and telecom business in North America
  • Work with an agency to deliver significant tier one media coverage supporting our North American business objectives

Key Experience

  • At least 10 years' experience driving North American public and media relations
  • Experience in working in a large international organisation, with several internal stakeholders.
  • Recognised expert by tier one North American media
  • Experience of supporting Government Affairs campaigns
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and to deal with complex issues and technology
  • Selected candidate will have a strong blend of Media Relations and Public Affairs background
  • Agency management experience
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and executing on communications plans that utilise a wide variety of channels and media, including digital creativity, setting KPI's for communications and demonstrating personal and collective impact
  • Brilliant communicator with the ability and gravitas to operate at all levels of an organisation and demonstrable experience of working closely with senior executives
  • Practiced in developing working relationships and networks at all levels, with high impact and influence in a collaborative environment.
