BASIC FUNCTION:

The DevOps Team Lead position is a leadership and management position responsible for developing and leading the Digital Lifecycle Enablement (DLE) Team and associated DevOps practices. This leader will be responsible for the management and execution of strategic and tactical initiatives related to Technology and Business Delivery Team driven product and project work. This includes the technical tools, environments, and overall Agile product delivery methodologies appropriate for American AgCredit. This position is accountable for the leadership of a team of DevOps Engineers and similar resources supporting the overall mission of the DLE team. The DevOps Team Lead plays a significant role in transforming and revolutionizing our platforms to facilitate significant growth and drive ongoing improvements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • This is a hands-on leadership position that helps manage and lead the ongoing evolution of the DevOps lifecycle for American AgCredit and alignment of process with industry best practices for DevOps development while conforming to the business, technology, product, and project needs

  • Leads a small team of 3-7 resources, including contingent staff, and helps with driving standards, best practices, and tool adoption as well as cross training resources

  • Collaborates with other leaders within Technology and the Business Delivery Teams to ensure alignment across all team efforts

  • Prepares regular reports for IT and Business Delivery Team leadership showing agile tool usage, agile methodology, and metrics

  • Responsible for the work of others, resource allocations and decision-making affecting the success of product and project delivery

  • Responsible for the team's expenditure in alignment with the budget. Assists in the annual Technology budget review process

  • Ability to engage in and demonstrate hands-on Senior level DevOps experience

  • Build, improve, and/or maintain web-based applications, console applets, and integration solutions in alignment with the Development Community of Practice and Enterprise Architecture Team.

  • Be involved in all phases of the software development life-cycle as an individual contributor adhering to Association's standards and best practices.

  • Collaborate with IT Development team to interpret business requirements and functional specifications as part of the overall program to fully integrate the Association's enterprise applications.

  • Understand Agile development concepts and incorporate regular end-user feedback into design and prototypes

  • Support, maintain, and document software functionality. Provide assistance with testing and quality assurance.

  • Resolve software and system issues.

  • Design/code reviews, champion good coding practices and standards, as well as constructively improve source code.

  • Participate in project planning and estimation.

  • Perform other functions as assigned.

LEVELS OF SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED:

This is a management and leadership position responsible for the hiring, training and evaluation of professional staff; makes independent decisions; works under the general direction of the Director of Solution Development.

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-3 years experience in Software Development management or associated training

  • BS in Computer Science or BA with equivalent technical competency

  • Minimum 7 years of software development and design with demonstrated proficiency

  • Contribute as lead developer on multiple projects, coordinating other development activity including assignment of tasks and providing technical direction / guidance to less experienced staff.

  • Understanding of the software lifecycle and software engineering best practices, including specification, documentation, configuration management, testing and quality assurance.

  • Experience with version control (i.e. Git, Subversion), issue tracking and build/release management

  • Good client service, communication skills and able to work in a team programming environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Effective at leading, delegating tasks and authority

  • Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow through

  • Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize individual work load, troubleshoot and remedy problems under pressing deadlines

  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously

  • High attention to detail

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and sit at a desk for an extended period of time. Job requires extensive use of computers and phones. While performing the job, the employee is required to sit, crouch, kneel, crawl, reach and have the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to work with typical hardware and cabling practices required. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team. Ability to talk and hear, sit and use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in performance of the job. Must be able to interact effectively with people at all levels of company. Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.

FULL-TIME REMOTE:

These roles and job functions can be done remotely, while maintaining our strong commitment to customer service and our business goals. Employees are welcome to come to an office to work if needed, and some travel for team meetings will be required.

PAY RANGE:

Minimum - $106,960.00 Midpoint - $133,700.00 Max - $167,125.00

This range is reflective of the national salary average for this position and will be adjusted using geographic variance for physical location of the hired candidate. American AgCredit may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.
