THE OPPORTUNITY

The Assistant Director of Digital Marketing is responsible for developing and executing digital marketing plans with measurable, trackable goals and analyzing and optimizing their performance. This role oversees the Council’s Pardot automated email marketing platform and works closely with a database services team and the Digital Platforms and Projects Manager to integrate it with the Council’s Salesforce CRM and Drupal content management system. The Assistant Director manages a team of two and reports to the Digital Marketing and Creative Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Define, optimize, and implement digital marketing and advertising plans to promote Council events, digital programming, and content and to support fundraising efforts.
  • Prepare digital analytics reports and use data-driven insights to adjust marketing strategies and plans.
  • Develop expertise in the Council’s public programming and content audience segment, their needs, challenges, influences, and digital journeys.
  • Help plan and evaluate creative, data-driven campaigns to move users through the full funnel via paid channels including SEM, display advertising, retargeting, and paid social.
  • Consult and advise departments across the organization on promotional strategies and audience development.
  • Collaborate with an internal creative team to develop content assets for campaigns (videos, graphics, ad creative, etc.) and ensure they are built effectively to track results
  • Execute inbound marketing activities (keyword research, on-page SEO, marketing automation) to generate leads and nurture constituents through their digital journey.
  • Act as the organizational Pardot administrator and work closely with the Salesforce administrator to ensure data quality that enables targeting, segmentation, and suppression.
  • Review, edit, and publish web content; oversee the format of email announcements and weekly and monthly email newsletters; manage email editorial calendar.
  • Provide support at Council events, requiring some evening and early morning hours
QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • 5+ years of digital marketing experience and a BA degree preferably in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations.
  • Experience working with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms (Salesforce a plus), email/automated marketing systems (Pardot a plus), and web content management systems (Drupal a plus).
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics; Google Data Studio, Tableau, and other analytical tracking platforms a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; previous editing experience and knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style preferred
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative software is a plus.
  • Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • A detail-oriented problem solver who shows initiative, can manage multiple deadlines and priorities, is flexible and adapts easily to new situations, and works well independently and as part of a team that values purpose, creativity, collaboration, and solutions.
