Job Title:

Senior Systems Engineer-Desktop Patching/Vulnerability

What you'll do:

The Senior Systems Engineer role will balance technical acumen, business thinking, desktop security best practices, and a highly pragmatic approach to delivering actionable architectures to our business end users. The chosen candidate will regularly operate at multiple levels of the organization suggesting and defending technology choices designed to optimize and secure the desktop computing environment. This role will also lead the charge in the proposal, justification, and implementation of the end user desktop improvement initiative.

What we are looking for:

  • Participating in the evaluation of software and hardware products and making recommendations for their deployment in our environment
  • Develop and maintain tiered desktop/laptop standards for various user classes within the organization.
  • Expand and enhance image creation procedures and tools for new and existing devices.
  • Assembly of MS Visio diagrams and detailed documentation for all solutions developed
  • Interact with application subject matter experts and application owners to capture explicit and implicit system requirements.
  • Function as the highest level of escalation to resolve chronic desktop and end user experience issues.
  • Create knowledge base articles for use by helpdesk staff to ensure first call resolution of known issues.
  • Maintain and improve upon, as necessary, the existing Threat and Vulnerability Management (TVM) program, including maintenance of scanning tools and licensing, procedures, reporting, and client communications.
  • Oversight and coordination of patching efforts in the Microsoft WSUS and Symantec Altiris patching solutions.
  • Coordinate with third party vendors in the creation and quarterly maintenance of desktop golden images.
  • Work with Information Security team on the need for and impact of security applications on the desktop.
