Job Description

We are conducting telephone and/or video conferencing interviews during the public health crisis.


Center Point, Inc. seeks an experienced and qualified cook to prepare meals for the Co-Ed community based substance use disorder residential treatment facility in Napa, CA.

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Cook prepares meals for Center Point residential programs, drafts menus for approval, prices items, and when necessary purchases food and non-food items at local markets. The Cook maintains a perpetual inventory of food stock and rotates the stock according to date of purchase. The Cook maintains the kitchen in accordance with the Health Department and State Licensing regulations. The Cook also supervises and trains clients assigned to work in the kitchen.

PRIMARY DUTIES

Prepares at least two week menus and submits for approval.

Maintains perpetual inventory of food and non-food stock.

Rotate food stock according to date of purchase.

Labels all food in storage, including date cooked or at time of opening container.

Prepares nutritious meals for Center Point Residential facilities.

Prepares foods for special occasions including, dinners, special functions, and meetings.

Supervises and trains clients assigned to work in the kitchen.

Maintains inventory of donated food and non-food items.

Maintains kitchen in a clean and health manner.

Interacts with clients and staff in a culturally sensitive manner.

May perform floor coverage duties.

Oversees the cleaning of the kitchen, including the operation of the dishwasher.

Transports clients as needed using Center Point vehicles

MINIMUM STANDARDS

· Maintains professional, courteous interaction with clients, the public, board members, and senior management.

· Productive, adaptable, and cooperative. Works well in coordination with peers and other program staff.

· Seeks to solve problems in a timely manner.

· Preparation of creative and nutritional weekly menus for all residential facilities and agency functions.

· Stores and handles food according to State licensing and Health Department standards.

· Eliminates waste, maintains inventory, practices cost containment.

· Possesses a current California Driver’s license

· Possesses a current Food Handlers Certification/Card

· Has a current, negative TB test on file

EDUCATION/VOCATIONAL PREPARATION

A high school diploma or GED certificate is required. Two years experience in food service and the preparation of large quantities of food essential. The ability to follow directions is essential. Knowledge of health and safety regulations is required. Knowledge of dietary and nutrition protocols is essential. Recovering individuals are encouraged to apply.
