Electrical Engineer, PE

Executive Supervisor:  Operations Manager
Functional Supervisor:  Project Manager 

POSITION SUMMARY:  Designs systems applying knowledge of electrical engineering principles. 
We are looking for one Electrical Engineer, PE who can work out of our Rochester, MN location. 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Researches, designs, and specifies electrical systems, and teams with other project staff.
  • Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines on the team such as architectural, structural, and mechanical.
  • Researches and analyzes data to determine feasibility of designs and systems.
  • Coordinates design and specification activities to ensure system design and deliverables conform to engineering design and customer specifications. 
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Working knowledge and historical use of Visual, Elum Tools, SKM Power Tools for Windows, ComCheck, Energy analysis software and similar.
  • Confers with engineering and design staff to determine design modifications and enters editing information into computer. 
  • Demonstrates ability to graphically represent designs from conceptual ideas to final construction documents for reproduction via AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in electrical load calculations, lighting control systems, and various technology systems including but not limited to: Information Technology backbone and distribution, Audio Visual, Mass Notification, Fire Alarm, and Security/Access Control.
  • Selects equipment Equipment selections for lighting, power distribution, and building systems.
  • Performs other related duties as required.  Demonstrates ability to lead project’s schedules, designs and budgets.
  • Attend project meetings as electrical representation.
  • Familiar with and capable of writing technical specifications for various electrical systems and equipment.
  • Be able to contact equipment manufacturers or representatives to discuss product options and solutions.

INTERACTION WITH CO-WORKERS, PUBLIC, AND CLIENTS: 
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written with project team and or clients for coordination of design documents.
  • Maintain cooperative, professional demeanor to communicate with clients and co-workers.
  • Project and maintain positive image of MEP Associates to the public.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5-8 Years of Experience
  • PE License Required
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
