POSITION SUMMARY The Van Driver is responsible to operate agency vans to transport trainees safely according to program needs and daily schedules. Split Shift Schedule
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate the vans safely in compliance with New York State Motor Vehicle and traffic laws and agency operation guidelines.
Maintain order among the passengers, enforce all rules and provide assistance to passengers entering and/or leaving the van as needed.
Report maintenance, repairs and damage needs to supervisor and take vehicles for servicing as necessary.
Report any and all scheduling and passenger changes to supervisor as well as any specific problems or needs encountered with passengers.
Report all accidents to supervisor.
Attend all scheduled trainings and participate in any required certification processes.
Perform daily maintenance check on assigned vehicle and log onto the Pre-Trip Inspection Form.
Maintain all vehicle and passenger logs.
Transport and deliver inter-office mail as required.
Health, Safety, & Compliance
Maintain all site operations in accordance with specified certification criteria and Health Department regulations. Ensure compliance with OPWDD, OFA, and any other organization or government agency as required
Actively participate in health and safety practices and accident prevention
Maintain a work environment in a clean, organized, and safe manner. Conduct daily inspections of work areas to look for unsafe conditions
Ensure all accidents are reported to supervisor and Human Resources
Maintain practices to ensure Health and Safety compliance
Use all required safety devices and personal protective equipment.

Responsible for understanding and adhering to Gateway Community Industries’ Corporate Compliance Policy and Standards of Conduct as well as all applicable program rules, regulations and policies. Keep abreast of any changes or modifications to policies or regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned
Licenses / Certifications:
Valid NYS Driver’s License
CDL
19A Certification
Must obtain CDL and 19A certification within 90 days of hire
REGULATORY CLEARANCES REQUIRED:
Must have a valid NYS Driver’s License and maintain a driving record which meets the insurable criteria of the Agency’s automobile insurance carrier
Driver’s License Abstract
Must provide a valid DOT physical or obtain one prior to beginning employment.
Must have a favorable result from DOT drug screenings
Must have a favorable result from all state, federal, and agency mandated background checks
