Job Description

Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services (GCB) has an immediate opening for a Family Support Specialist/Home Visitor at at our Cincinnati/Price Hill office!  Join our multidisciplinary treatment organization as a member of Child & Family Services division working with the Every Child Succeeds team.

The ideal candidate will have at minimum a BSW or BA in Child & Family Studies or Human Services, or closely related field. 


Every Child Succeeds assists families in Southwest Ohio through home visits that help first-time parents create a nurturing, healthy environment. The home visits, which take place from pregnancy through the child’s third birthday, help kids get a good start in life, both physically and emotionally. A United Way and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center-proven success, Every Child Succeeds is significantly changing the lives of at-risk children and their parents.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with parents, providing support in the areas of parent education, child development, and child safety.
  • Field-based position establishes supportive working relationships with the parent and baby through face-to-face interaction and visitation in the physical home setting.
  • Perform home visits with families, addressing the six domains of Parental Health, Parenting, Child Development, Personal/Environmental Safety, Social Supports, and Life Course Development.
  • Provide parenting and child development information based on the Growing Great Kids Curriculum
  • Coordinate health, family support, and social services needed by family; provide referrals and linkage to other services.
  • Fee for Service position meaning you are paid for completing the home visits.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Ability to work independently. Ability to establish trusting relationships.
  • Open to reflective practice (i.e. has capacity for introspection, communicates awareness of self in relation to others, recognizes value of supervision, etc.).
  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Knowledge of infant and child development.
