MCC Asheville has a variety of press assistants, finishing operator and quality assurance positions open.  These are not entry level positions, but rather semi-skilled positions. These positions offer a starting hourly wage between $16.00 and $20.00 per hour; 3rd shift positions pay an additional 10% shift premium. 

Flexographic Press Assistants – this role is responsible for staging the next job for the press, assisting the press operator with changeover from one job to the next keeping the job running on the press and performing routine quality checks.  Great Press Assistants are provided training to advance to Press Operator.

Finishing Operator (Slitter Operators) – these roles work with the finished product that comes from the press room.  A Finishing Operator uses a machine with dies and blades to cut the labels to the size specified by the customer

You may like this job if you are mechanically inclined and have experience working with manufacturing equipment, you like to stay busy and work fast, have a passion for quality/attention to detail and have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply).

Experience/Requirements:

• Strong written/verbal interpersonal and communication skills.  Must be able to read, write, and comprehend instructions.
• Must be able to operate a forklift and order picker (or open to be trained).
• Strong mathematical, measurement calculation knowledge and experience and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.
• Strong initiative, problem-solving, and resourcefulness.
• Practice & sustain Lean Manufacturing and 6S procedures.

Physical environment/working conditions: Print shop manufacturing, sitting 80%, standing 20%, walking 20%, pulling 30%, and lifting 50%.
