Head and Professor of Statistics, North Carolina State University

Dr. Montserrat Fuentes is Head and Full professor of Statistics (with tenure) at North Carolina (NC) State. Dr. Fuentes received her B.S. in Mathematics and Music (piano) from the University of Valladolid (Spain), and her Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Chicago (1999). Dr. Fuentes has authored over 75 scientific publications and served as principal investigator on more than 20 research grants, with total funding of more than 20 million dollars. She is the principal investigator and director of the Research Network for Statistical Methods for Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (STATMOS), a 5 million dollars initiative funded by NSF. Dr. Fuentes was named an American Statistical Association (ASA) fellow (2008) for outstanding contributions to research and she is currently the chair of the Statistical Computing Section of the ASA.
