Company Overview

Quantum computing promises to be the most profoundly world changing technology uncovered to date. With applications across climate, energy, healthcare, industry, high tech and government, quantum computing will tackle some of the most urgent practical challenges we face. The only outstanding question is how to realize this technology.

PsiQuantum was founded on the premise that if you want a useful quantum computer, you need fault tolerance and error correction, and therefore ~1,000,000 physical qubits– to address commercially useful quantum computing applications. We are building a means to solve impossible problems and are engaged in partnerships and licensing of our technology through PsiQuantum licensing services, to deliver the quantum capabilities required to drive advances in climate, healthcare, finance, energy, agriculture, transportation, communications, and beyond.

While there are many different approaches to building small numbers of qubits, the photonic approach taken by PsiQuantum has profound technical advantages at the scale required for error correction.

It has been our conviction since well before the founding of the company that in order to deliver millions of qubits on a practical timescale, it will be necessary to leverage the same advanced semiconductor manufacturing techniques that put a billion transistors in your cellphone.

We were founded by the world’s foremost experts in photonic quantum computing and we’ve assembled a world-class team of engineers and scientists, supported by top notch investors and advisors. It’s no accident that we are based in Silicon Valley, where the semiconductor and silicon photonic industries were born and built into mature industries with highly scalable, reliable, and cost-effective processes to leverage.

Together, we are building the world’s first useful fault tolerant, error corrected quantum computer that will solve otherwise impossible problems.

We’re hiring
PsiQuantum is building the world’s first useful quantum computer. We are exclusively targeting an error-corrected machine, and we are building on a foundation of silicon photonic technology, coupled with breakthroughs in quantum architecture. Our team includes world-class engineers and scientists who are working on the entire quantum computing stack, from the photonic and electronic chips, through packaging and control electronics, cryogenic systems, quantum architecture and fault tolerance, to quantum applications. We are looking for enthusiastic people to join us in moving quantum computing from a theoretical concept to a real-world technology.

With applications across climate, healthcare, energy, finance, agriculture, transportation, materials design and more, we are working to bring quantum computing to bear on some of the most urgent practical challenges we face.

It is our conviction that all commercially useful quantum computing applications require error-correction and therefore at least one million physical qubits. To deliver a fault-tolerant quantum computer on any realistic time or money scale, it needs to be built on a scalable and proven semiconductor manufacturing process.

We have developed unique technology in which single photons (particles of light) are manipulated using complex photonic circuits, patterned onto a silicon chip using standard semiconductor manufacturing techniques. PsiQuantum is already manufacturing quantum photonic chips, as well as the cryogenic CMOS chips needed to control the qubits, using the advanced semiconductor tools in the production line of our manufacturing partners.
