DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will maintain an inmate work crew for the purpose of instructing, coaching, and evaluating inmates in the trade of refrigeration mechanics, through both classroom and on-the-job instruction. You will provide supervision, security and custody for inmates assigned to the work detail. Additionally, you will inventory tools and materials needed for training and submit purchase requests for additional supplies when needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • This position is eligible for full benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,425 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of experience in the repair and servicing of refrigeration systems or air conditioning systems; or
  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade. 


Special Requirement: 

  • You must be in possession of an active Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate issued by an approved provider.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
