Job Summary
The College of Veterinary Medicine is in search of a TES Barn Crew member to provide routine animal care such as daily cleaning/sanitation of stalls and barns, rotational grazing, monitoring health and safety of animals, and transportation of animals to proper location. This position also requires the ability to operate a forklift and golf cart.

Schedule will be Wed – Sun, 5:00am – 2:00pm

Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:
  • Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
  • Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
  • Assistance with special projects
  • Seasonal work
  • Emergencies

Essential Functions
  • Provides routine animal care such as daily feeding, watering, cleaning/sanitation of stalls and barns, rotational grazing, monitoring health and safety of animals, and transportation of animals to proper location.
  • May handle pesticides, herbicides, and hazardous chemicals on a team or alone.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Driver’s license

Expectations:
  • Ability to drive forklift and golf cart.
  • Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.

Physical demands:
  • Job frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Job occasionally requires sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling, and lifting more than 80 pounds.
  • Regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion.
  • Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., with one often to the point of being objectionable. Injuries may require professional treatment.
Desired Qualifications
One year of farm animal experience.
