Requirements:
The position is available at different proficiency levels. The offer depends on qualification.
- Education: PhD, or Masters with a minimum of 2 years, or BS with a minimum of 3 years in Optical Sciences, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- 2+ years’ experience in optical CNC machining is required. Experienced in precision optics fabrication is a plus
- Strong hands-on skills for engineering and handling fragile parts with attention to detail and quality
- Strong computer skills with basic programming and modeling concepts as a plus
- Strong analytical geometry skills
- Basic knowledge and experience of 3D CAD modeling, 2D drawing, lathes, milling is a plus
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team to solve problems of scientific and technological interest to RIT
- Ability to learn new equipment and processes quickly
