TES Equestrian Assistant

Job Summary
Unique opportunity to assist with the maintenance and daily care of Equestrian Center Horses with Auburn University Athletics!

Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:
  • Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
  • Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
  • Assistance with special projects
  • Seasonal work
  • Emergencies

Essential Functions
  • Provide high quality daily care of the horses at the Equestrian Center
  • Clean stalls, feed, water, turnouts and blanketing of horses
  • Administer medications and perform medical treatments
  • Oversee general horse health
  • Assist with veterinary and farrier when needed
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to read and write

Expectations:
  • Teamwork skills and able to work independently
  • Initiative and self-motivation, able to work autonomously while updating supervisor regularly
  • Able to handle multiple tasks
  • Organization /coordination skills
  • Flexibility
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to work during weekends, holidays, breaks
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work 10-20 hours a week
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with horses preferred
