Eastern Virginia Medical School invites applications from experienced diversity and inclusion leaders for the position of Senior Associate Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion.

With the legislated merger of Eastern Virginia Medical School and Old Dominion University and the creation of Eastern Virginia Health Sciences Center, the Senior Associate Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion role is a unique opportunity for a proven leader to advance the institution’s mission and goals related to diversity, equity affirmative action, inclusion, and human rights by ensuring compliance with existing programs, policies, and initiatives as well as developing new ones. Eastern Virginia Medical School has a history of providing educational degrees in healthcare since 1973, growing substantially in student, faculty, and offerings over its subsequent 51 years.

The Senior Associate Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion is responsible for developing strategies and standards for diversity and inclusion for cultural awareness by engagement in institution, local, statewide, and national activities as well as the development of community collaborations.  The Senior Associate Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion develops and implements initiatives that support an integrated approach to diversity and inclusivity within the institution and the communities it serves.

The preferred candidate will be a visionary and transformative leader and – through collaboration with faculty, staff, students, community members, and administrators – drive the organization’s mission, values, and strategic direction in line with the mission, vision, and values of the Eastern Virginia Health Sciences Center and Old Dominion University overall.

Qualifications

 

Applicants are required to have 7 years of related experience or training and experience requested with demonstrated leadership in diversity and inclusion initiatives. While a Doctorate is strongly preferred, a Master’s degree is required.
