Job Description

The Senior Program Manager manages programs that turn policy objectives into capacity building projects with impactful outputs and outcomes. Prerequisites for the position are: 

 

  • Strong program management skills, preferably with experience managing U.S. government-funded grants, cooperative agreements or contracts that conclude on schedule, on budget and with clearly documented results. 

  • Supervisory experience managing multi-tiered team structures that: 

  • are geographically diverse 

  • integrate mentorship and training of staff  

  • include workforce planning to ensure allocation of resources across programs during surges and lags in activity, 

  • The ability to manage resources and budgets effectively and forecast costs to a high degree of accuracy 

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with experts across academic, non-profit, industry, and government sectors,  

  • Ability to build and manage the customer relationship with the program funder.  

  • Business development experience, including concept development, program design, budgeting, and partner strategy development and execution. 

 

Programming includes, but is not limited to: 

 

 

The Senior Program Manager, under the supervision of the Director of the ISN Mission Area, oversees the development and execution of solutions in close collaboration with the customer in the areas identified above.  

 

Major Responsibilities:  

  • Manages a program portfolio with total value exceeding $19M annual revenue: 

  • Directly manages a program with total value of $10M, including program planning, budgeting, execution, funder reporting, and monitoring and evaluation  

  • Supervises front-line managers, who are in turn responsible for programs with a total value of $9M 

  • Shapes the direction and functioning of future programs by developing new concepts to address the funder’s objectives related to safe and secure nuclear energy adoption and nonproliferation objectives globally includes proposal writing and proposal budgeting tasks) 

  • Manages a high performance, matrixed and geographically dispersed team; supervises and develops direct reports and team members; oversees the recruitment, hiring and onboarding processes of staff; establishes work and development goals with staff; provides feedback on performance standards; ensures staff are compliant with CRDF Global policies 

  • Coordinates communication and reporting with funders, internal and external clients, and senior management 

  • Conducts stakeholder engagement and networking with external subject matter experts from the regulatory, development, academic and industry communities 

  • Represents CRDF Global at external events such as scientific and business conferences, including leading delegations and makes presentations to educate others about programs; remains current on relevant program topics  

  • Manages the partnering and relationship management strategy for subject matter expert resources that help the organization achieve program objectives 

  • Oversees development of annual program plans and project plans in relation to the stated goals and contractual responsibilities 

  • Other duties as assigned  

 

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Master’s degree in related field 

  • 8+ years of project management experience, experience in a field related to nuclear nonproliferation or nuclear technology preferred  

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience, including development and oversight of staff goal plans, performance management and professional development mentoring  

  • Strong program management skills, including budget oversight, forecasting and workforce planning  

  • Ability to take ambitious ideas and to break them into manageable, specific objectives and projects  

  • Excellent and effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with a wide range of individuals from varied backgrounds at all levels within their organizations  

  • Strong diplomatic and negotiating skills  

  • Must be willing and able to travel internationally and domestically depending on program up to 25% 

  • U.S. work authorization  

  • Must be eligible to obtain security clearance 

 

 

Salary & Benefits: The base pay range for this position is $97,760 to $130,000.  The determination of salaries in this job classification depends on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant candidate experience, job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills.  In addition, we have a comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance; 403(b) retirement savings plan; paid time off; education reimbursement; student loan paydown and more.
