Services include EPF/ C(m) (Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication and Construction (Management)) projects that are largely completed internally.
The Mechanical Engineer position will be located in our Houston, Texas office. This position is responsible for the production of safe, technically accurate and cost effective mechanical and piping system and equipment designs and associated deliverables for oil and gas production facilities, compliance with applicable specifications and standards, and completion of work within project budget and schedule.
For larger projects, this is typically accomplished by a combination of supervising and directing a Mechanical Facilities Engineering Team, and directly performing tasks as required.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Have an understanding and management of the project scope of work, budget and schedule, particularly as it applies to Mechanical Facilities & Process Plant Engineering and the mechanical discipline. Includes estimating, scheduling, progressing, and forecasting Mechanical discipline activities and deliverables.
- Coordination with other project disciplines.
- Develop and maintain Project Equipment List.
- Develop and maintain Piping and Instrument Diagrams.
- Work with Process Engineering and equipment suppliers in equipment sizing, rating and selection.
- Develop and maintain static and rotating project equipment specifications and data sheets.
- Develop and maintain project piping and valve specifications.
- Prepare mechanical equipment technical requisitions for bid and purchase along with technical bid evaluations and purchase recommendations.
- Provide technical assistance and support for the procurement of major equipment including shop and field visits as required.
- Oversee and coordinate specialized mechanical design with in-house specialists and suppliers as necessary (e.g. heat transfer, special rotating equipment, pipe stress).
- Prepare estimates for equipment costs and weights, and for Engineering and Design labor manhours.
- Perform thorough review of equipment supplier documentation and ensure effective interface. Coordinate multi-discipline review. Incorporate supplier information into project design and documents.
- Provide a timely internal squad check of drawings produced by other project disciplines.
- Provide continuous technical interface between equipment suppliers and fabrication contractors as required.
- Incorporate corporate procedures and industry standards into design as applicable.
