There has never been a better time to join the energy storage space in North America. With the recent IRA, storage deployments across residential, commercial & industrial and utility scale markets are poised to grow this decade and beyond.

As Generac broadens our product portfolio with commercial & industrial energy storage offerings, there is a need to broaden our access to market with specific go to market partners focused on energy storage related projects and customers. The emphasis of this role is to build and execute a commercial strategy for commercial & industrial energy storage, with a specific emphasis on identifying and build relationships with strategic go to market partners in North America.

This role is ideal for someone who likes being at the intersection of product, technology and markets. This is a unique opportunity to both shape Generac's commercial & industrial energy storage commercialization strategy and more importantly how this product fits into the broader Generac ecosystem of energy management focused products and technologies. Energy management today increasingly means balancing a combination of carbon reduction, energy savings and energy resilience goals and the battery energy storage system is our latest addition to a portfolio of products and enabling technologies helping commercial and industrial customers to meet their current and future energy goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Actively work with leadership to develop the commercialization strategy for energy storage products in North America
  • As part of that, develop a robust go to market partner strategy to help commercialize energy storage products in North America with specific focus on building relationships with entities in the solar value chain (developers, large contractors, installers, engineering firms) and storage focused developers
  • Work with key internal and external stakeholders to identify and close gaps in our current suite of products and commercial solutions, both from an M&A and strategic partnership standpoint
  • Actively develop new business by building out and managing a pipeline of projects to supply on-site energy solutions and grow Generac's business and presence in this space
  • Be a thought leadership champion in the energy storage space to grow awareness of Generac and our products and solutions
  • Partner with Generac's Grid Services business to provide a full hardware (On-site power and energy) + software (Energy management) suite of solutions, where applicable, to support partners and projects
  • Continually maintain an understanding of current, emerging players and business models in this space and identify how Generac can adapt and stay relevant with our suite of energy solutions
  • Develop a clear understanding of the broader commercial & industrial energy technology mix (engines, storage, PV, energy management, EVSE's etc.) and the value proposition associated with them in a variety of projects

Minimal Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience
  • 8 years of sales or business development experience selling directly into the assigned industry
  • Ability to travel up to 50%

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of sales or business development experience selling, developing business, ideally in the behind the meter clean energy space (storage, solar, microgrids, distributed energy resources)
  • Understanding of energy storage and broader clean energy markets, products, technologies, and value propositions for behind the meter commercial and industrial customers and projects
  • Established relationships in the sector to create a go to market partner ecosystem for Generac's Industrial business

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of the energy needs and challenges faced by commercial & industrial customers and the business models around procuring energy solutions
  • Well established network of commercial and industrial partners that can be leveraged as part of creating a go to market strategy
  • Demonstrated caliber to take on open ended challenges, innovate around business models, create partner ecosystems, and develop new business
  • Demonstrated skills around being an energy solutions architect
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage key accounts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Up to 50% travel and valid Driver's License required.
