Summary: Repair and building of highest quality complex tooling without direction in most efficient time. Must have willing attitude.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the MACHINE SHOP MACHINIST is to safely and efficiently perform top-quality operational duties on a daily basis which include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Must be able to run standard lathe, mill, grinder

  • Must able to work alone

  • Must be capable of starting and completing projects

  • Must be able to instruct others working with him/her

  • Must be able to run CNC machines

  • Provide manufacturing with correct tooling components, solve problems such as prints - tooling differences

  • Train others, provide leadership, provide manufacturing with low cost tooling and correct tooling components.

  • Any other duties as assigned by supervision or management.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Qualifications: Certificate of completion from an accredited machine shop or tool and die vocational school with CNC training as part of the curriculum.

Education and/or Experience: High School or GED and machine shop and tool and die school preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a professional machine shop.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend sufficient English to follow work instructions and able to read and understand engineering drawings.

Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematical skills and a solid understanding of engineering drawings/tolerances required.

Reasoning Ability: Must be able to handle stress of holding close tolerances and meeting schedules, mentally alert, safety conscious, communicate verbally well with others, receive and follow instructions and get along well with others.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Ability to earn and keep a forklift license.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, drive and operate equipment. - CNC lathe, CNC mill, CNC horizontal mill, all conventional machinery.
