YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Director Real World Data/Real World Evidence & Behavioral Science are to:

Evidence Generation & Clinical has the objective to improve the health and consumer well-being through generating impactful evidence that is one of the foundations of our self-care business. The Head Real-World Data/Real-World Evidence (RWD/RWE) & Behavioral Science (BHS) is amongst others responsible to develop and lead a team of RWD/RWE & BHS Leads, and to deliver RWD/RWE & BHAS studies including leveraging complex, clinically rich, patient-level healthcare data and advanced analytics to answer specific research questions supporting the Bayer Consumer Health (BCH) business; designing innovative, fit-for-purpose non-interventional/observational studies to directly address BCH specific research questions; utilize BHS to better capture consumer perception and journey; and implement RWD/RWE strategies that will pioneer the use of RWD/RWE with health and regulatory authorities.

Within this framework the incumbent is responsible and accountable for the delivery of the global portfolio of RWD/RWE & BHS initiatives to generate the evidence aligned with BCH business needs.

The Director RWD/RWE & BHS serve as a senior leader and expert with deep knowledge of non-interventional/observational research and RWD/RWE generation including innovative study designs and advanced analytics.

  • Support the Head Evidence Generation & Clinical establishing a RWD/RWE & BHS team. Lead the overall BCH RWD/RWE & BHS strategy on a global (category) as well as local bases being responsible and accountable for delivery of study execution, data management/analytics activities/deliverables. Liaise with other key RMSC/R&D and business functions to consider any input/requirements that could impact the RWD/RWE & BHS strategy and operational conduct of RWD/RWE & BHS initiatives. Ensure that there is a business rational including all necessary governance approvals in place with a positive Return-of-Investment (ROI) for the RWD/RWE & BHS initiatives. The incumbent also ensures that all relevant budgets, and timelines are aligned with projections and communicates changes and progress to Senior/Executive Leadership;
  • Drive innovation in BCH RWD/RWE & BHS by pursuing and developing external partnerships that allow the BCH RWD/RWE & BHS team to pioneer and validate innovative non-interventional/observational studies, advanced analytics, and other RWD/RWE & BHS study methodologies with a strong focus on using new and pioneering digital tools. Continue to utilize and evolve current internal and external partnerships, especially with industry organizations and regulatory bodies to maximize value of RWD/RWE & BHS for BCH;
  • Responsible for the approval of necessary study documentation, i.e., protocol, report, other key documents, and serve as the subject matter expert on the Evidence Generation Planning Committee and Protocol Review Committee to ensure alignment of studies with overall category and business strategy. Responsible to ensure the value of RWD/RWE &BHS studies is maximized across BCH and accountable to demonstrate the business value of RWD/RWE & BHS for BCH;
  • Accountable for the oversight of the RWD/RWE & BHS Engagement Leads as well as RWD/RWE &BHS initiative related budgeting, budget forecasting and tracking;
  • Preparation and oversight of study audits and inspections. Ensure preparation and proper responses to audit and inspection reports and execution of appropriate Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) implementation and management, involving all relevant functions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Substantial experience (at least 10+ years) in clinical research (either in

pharmaceutical industry or CRO) ideally in a global setting and in diverse therapeutic areas;

  • Expertise and knowledge of relevant real-world data assets internally and externally

and an understanding of the evolving state of RWD/RWE & BHS area in order to position BCH RWD/RWE & BHS as best-in-class;

  • RWD/RWE & BHS expertise on committees, task forces, and key stakeholder communication internally and externally within the self-care area;
  • Experience managing teams to deliver research studies to high quality standards, within budgets and agreed timelines combined with a proven ability to advance ambiguous or conceptual ideas and engage multiple stakeholders, internal and external, to decision points;
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to distil complexity down to what matters to stakeholders;
  • Strong Financial/Budget Management and Project Management skills as well as a strong business acumen;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with strong negotiation and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's with minimum 12 years, Master's with minimum 10 years or Ph.D. with minimum 6 years total experience (or International education equivalency to degrees). Scientific or medical-related discipline (Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, STEM background).

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $226,800 to $340,300. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
