About Us

At HDR, we specialize in engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services. While we are most well-known for adding beauty and structure to communities through high-performance buildings and smart infrastructure, we provide much more than that. We create an unshakable foundation for progress because our multidisciplinary teams also include scientists, economists, builders, analysts and artists. That's why we believe diversity is our greatest strength. HDR is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer.

Watch Our Story:

We believe that the way we work can add meaning and value to the world. That ideas inspire positive change. That coloring outside the lines can illuminate fresh perspectives. And that small details yield important realizations. Above all, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.

Primary Responsibilities

HDR has an excellent career opportunity for a Building Engineering Services (BES) Design Manager in Idaho who understands building systems and who has an interest in helping to lead and grow that business. The primary duty of the BES Design Services Manager is to expand and provide planning and design services to current and future Water, Federal, Private, Transportation, and Architecture clients.

From a day-to-day delivery perspective, this role will focus on internal business group client management, internal client development (i.e. growing new business), and ultimately building and managing a growing team of BES delivery staff. BES discipline section managers will report to the BES Design Services Manager. A successful candidate will also represent HDR in the local industry through various professional or networking organizations and may also serve as a project manager or design manager for certain project types.

This position will be responsible for the operation of the current and future Idaho BES service groups (electrical, mechanical, structural, site civil, and others) including staff development, workflow and forecasting, scheduling, profitability, morale, and quality control, and will function as a technical lead on projects in addition to staff management responsibilities. They will support section managers to select, train, develop, and manage technical personnel, and help identify/recruit talented staff to enable our BES sections to grow to meet the design needs of the internal business groups. They will be administratively responsible for the group and technical service functions and will lead and coordinate services between disciplines. They may be directly involved with clients in project production and related issues, and will implement, monitor and support company policy.

From an internal client development perspective, the ideal candidate will be expected to work closely with HDR's Idaho Business Group leaders to develop and implement a focused BES engagement strategy to identify and develop project opportunities and ultimately capture new work with the various business groups. We anticipate this work to include traditional A/E design services for Water, Federal and Private Sector clients, as well as growing support for Architecture and Transportation clients.
