Summary

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer specializing in designing and implementing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) solutions in on-premises, air-gapped systems for supporting the development of conventional and cloud-native applications. Engineer will also act as an intermediate level system administrator to working as part of a team from multiple disciplines to develop, maintain and deploy advanced simulation devices across the globe. Responsibilities will include supporting all aspects of building, documenting, and maintaining mixed (combination of both Windows and Linux) closed room infrastructures and setup and management of software development environments. In addition to supporting engineers and continuously solving problems you will create, test, update and execute automated and semi-automated procedures for configuring all the components of our systems both in-house and at our customer sites.

  • Design git-based CI/CD pipelines for conventional and containerized applications
  • Integrate automated unit tests, SAST, DAST, and vulnerability scans into software development pipelines
  • Design and deploy customized, air-gapped Kubernetes clusters on VMWare ESXI systems using containers published at the DOD Platform One Iron Bank container registry
  • Offload software build components onto Kubernetes systems
  • Raise level of software functional organization proficiency in DevSecOps, CI/CD, Agile Methods, and containerization
  • Automate infrastructure deployments with Ansible and Terraform
  • Create and delegate tasks as an Agile Scrum product owner while mentoring software engineers towards supporting program goals
  • Draft technical documentation, user guides, and high-level process flows for stake holders
  • Windows System Administration
  • Development of Automated system deployment capabilities
  • Infrastructure setup and maintenance
  • Supports and monitors infrastructure hardware systems, operating systems and infrastructure applications to ensure reliability and availability of infrastructure services
  • Contributes and makes recommendations on the lifecycle of Infrastructure technologies
  • Answers technical questions

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • A BS/BA in an engineering, computer science, or information technology discipline or equivalent work experience with typically 2-5 years of related experience.
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment
  • Working knowledge of Git SCM, git-branching models, and GitOps
  • Creating/deploying Docker and OCI-format software containers
  • Experience with DevSecOps methods in CI/CD pipelines
  • Administrating Enterprise Linux and Windows Server/Active Directory systems
  • Knowledge of hardware and expertise in command line tools.
  • Event, audit, and syslog analysis.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking. Experience with managed switch and router setup.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Powershell.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong communications skills to effectively interact with peers, project vendors and other teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a CompTIA Security + Certification
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance is required

Preferred Skills

  • Strong Windows Server System setup and administration.
  • Windows/Linux integration: File Sharing, authentication.
  • Experience with Domain Controller setup and creation, management, update, and deployment of Group Policy Objects.
  • RHCSA/CNCF CKA certifications desirable
  • Experience with DISA Iron Bank CI/CD pipeline and methods.
  • Experience building software conforming to cybersecurity requirements under the Risk Management Framework or similar constructs
  • Provisioning HA vanilla Kubernetes or Rancher Kubernetes systems on air-gapped networks
  • Firm understanding of Kubernetes secrets, service accounts, and RBAC controls
  • Experience integrating Kubernetes components: kube-vip or metalLB, cert-manager, Nginx, ArgoCD, and external-dns
  • Infrastructure-as-Code development with Ansible and Terraform
  • Designing CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins and GitLab, Coverity, TwistLock, Trivy, Docker, Kaniko, and Kubernetes
  • Experience with administrating GoHarbor and Artifactory build artifact registries
  • Hardening servers and Kubernetes clusters to DISA standards
  • Configure, manage, and monitor storage systems (NAS, SAN, NFS etc).
  • Experience configuring Cisco and/or HP Networking.
  • Custom Automated Operating system deployment, such as Windows Deployment Toolkit.
  • Experience with Configuration Management.
  • Setup and management of Centralized Auditing.
  • Setup and management of centralized patching (such as WSUS).
  • Experience with System hardening (Implementation of the Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)).
  • Experience with vulnerability scanners such as ACAS/Nessus and SCAP.
  • Experience with version control tools such as ClearCase, Git, Bitbucket.
  • Security+ or CISSP Certification.
  • Windows certifications.

Security Responsibilities

Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment

The job is performed in an office environment, often in secure closed areas. Job requires work in plant, remote work is not possible. Job requires use of normal office equipment and occasional access to rack mounted hardware. Domestic and international travel up to 25% of the year may be required.
