We are seeking a Technical Sales Representative to join our Biomolecules team! This person will sell Biomolecule Products (Instruments and consumables) into the Biopharma, Biotech, Academic and relevant markets within the assigned territory.  The main responsibilities of this role are growth, quarter on quarter and year on year as well as managing customer relationships and assistance in development and execution of strategic marketing initiatives.

Region/Territory:
New England Region of United States – Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts

Travel Required:
  • 3-5 (average of 4) days per week in the field directly interfacing with prospects and customers.
  • 1-3 (average of 2) overnights per week (varies depending upon home base of employee)

Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Achieve defined monthly, quarterly, and annual targets for revenue, profitability for the territory and specific product volumes.
  • Responsible for lead generation and management including identification, initial qualification, and development of leads.
  • Identify and developing new customer relationships.
  • Work with marketing to identify and execute cost-effective lead generation campaigns targeted at end users, including advertising, PR, trade shows, newsletters, and webinars.
  • Installation and support of less sophisticated systems and biomolecule products and provide first level support for customers’ service needs.
  • Perform hands-on demonstration of instruments and consumable products to demonstrate business value and product differentiation.
  • Provide the organization with valuable sales tools, including competitive analysis, ROI calculators, and RFP templates.
  • Timely follow up and qualification of leads and document results in CRM platform.
  • Accurate and up to date documentation of sales activities and opportunity status in CRM platform.
  • Represent the company at conferences as needed.
  • Develop and present technical seminars as needed.
  • Generate quotes and negotiate pricing within authorized limits.
  • Provide on time and accurate sales forecasts.
  • Provide accurate and on time standard reports and ad hoc information requests.
  • Support company initiatives as well as sales and marketing strategies as needed.
  • Additional responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications and Training:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science based discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of sales experience to Biopharma and related laboratories.
  • Proven track record of success in growing sales revenue for consumable product lines.
  • Protein and plasmid purification market sales experience a plus
  • Exceptional customer service, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, be a self-starter, be creative and have strong organizational skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, self-directed environment with shifting priorities.
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and CRM software (Salesforce.com).
  • Ability to work within a team.
  • Must be able to drive in the USA and Canada. Must provide professional automobile for travel to customer’s sites.  Must be able to fly and rent automobiles.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move 25 pounds, occasionally life and/or move up to 80 pounds. Must be able to lift Biotage instruments from floor to lab bench.
