The Opportunity:

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Worldwide Campus is currently hiring a part-time Building Monitor for our Langley, VA location. Building Monitors are responsible for the opening and closing of the Campus for ERAU-WW use in the weekday evenings when classes are offered. They are also responsible for the safekeeping of the Campus and ERAU-owned classroom support equipment.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Opening, closing and securing all facilities used by education customers.

  • Set up classroom(s) as required e.g., adding, removing and arranging furniture as needed.

  • Issue learning aids as required and inspect such equipment for serviceability prior to and after use. Monitor proper use and safeguarding of all school and education property and equipment. Report abuse, damage and malfunctions to the Campus Staff.

  • Maintain responsibility for overall facility and property management during each session. Ensure compliance with all safety, fire, and security rules and regulations. Monitor building and grounds for security. Notify the Security Police, and/or Fire Department of violations or discrepancies. Notify Campus Staff at once when emergency work orders are needed.

  • Direct students and faculty members to assigned classrooms. Monitor hallways, break areas, classrooms, and surrounding grounds to minimize any potential disruption to academic activities.

  • Other duties as directed by the Campus Director to include cleaning-up after classroom use.

**Position is hourly part-time working 10-25 hours per week.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • (0-1) years of work related experience.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, write information, and complete simple forms.

  • High school (or GED) level ability in spelling, grammar, basic composition, and math.

  • Analytical skills with an in depth knowledge of information systems and technical expertise with Microsoft operating systems, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook/email, and Internet end-user applications.

  • Must be capable of performing light physical duties such as, moving and setting up audiovisual equipment, moving tables and chairs, and other routine daily maintenance functions.

  • Must be capable of operating computer hardware and peripherals (speakers, headphones, etc.) and audiovisual systems (overhead projectors, televisions, etc.).
