Job Description

We are now hiring an experienced Molding Supervisor for Night Shift.

Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for the management and supervision of the Molding department, while guiding activities at the production level to set priorities of preventive maintenance, address repair and production issues and track to ensure completion in accordance with plant expectations. Provides safety focused direction and proactive leadership ensuring personnel have all the tools and resources to effectively keep production machines running at peak efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Ensures all company policies and written procedures are followed.

Continually strives to work toward decreasing unscheduled machine downturn as well as conduct training and promote safe work practices.

Calculates labor and equipment requirements and production specifications, using standard formulas.

Conducts employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures or assigns employee training to experienced workers.

Confers with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.

Confers with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.

Keeps records of employees' attendance and hours worked.

Maintains operations data, such as time, production, and cost records, and prepares management reports of production results.

Requisitions materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.

Setups and adjusts machines and equipment.

Ensures safety procedure compliance.

Matches skilled production workers with appropriate workstation.

Verifies all cycle times on each machine being used that day.

Coordinates verification of all output daily.

Coordinates mold schedule assists with mold changes as needed.

Supervises assigned employees in Molding and the Lead Molders.

Ensures processes and products conform to company quality standards.

Ensures departmental productivity and scrap levels meet assigned objectives.

Ensures timely delivery of product to downstream manufacturing processes.

Troubleshoots processing issues to keep department operating efficiently.

Setups processes as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises 2 to 8 employees in the Molding Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Safety - Ensures all safety procedures are followed and potential safety hazards are reported.
  • Control of Cost - Maintains production efficiency while reducing scrap.
  • Quality Control - Directly responsibility for the quality of product produced on their shift.
  • Inventory Control - Responsible for product and raw material inventory through proper production reporting.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of manufacturing software; spreadsheet software (Excel); and word processing software (Word).

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid driver license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Forklift and Crane Operator Certification.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to gain the trust of customers.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle work-related stress is required.

  • Ability to apply specialized skills towards quality inspections, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and adjustments of the molding process cell and components and skills to analyze and safely resolve a variety of machine repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to manage the performance of all personnel and leads by example by demonstrating professional actions, habits, and mannerisms.

  • Forklift and electric pallet jack for material movement
  • Overhead crane for mold changes
  • Scales for color changes & inventory verification
  • Injection molding machines
  • Grinder
  • Material handling system
  • Auxiliary equipment such as but not limited to logic seals, thermolators, mold heater controllers
  • Shrink wrapper
  • Bander
  • Hazardous material protective apparel
