Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Mechanical Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Mechanical design calculations
  • Plan sheet, detail drawings, specifications, and construction cost estimate development for construction projects
  • Mechanical field inspection and troubleshooting
  • Construction submittal reviews (e.g., shop drawings)
  • Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications
  • Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures
  • Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables
  • Work independently on small projects or assist more senior engineers on larger projects
  • Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited university.
  • PE required.
  • 5+ years experience in Mechanical Engineering design.
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Inventor, Microstation, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Willingness to travel is required. Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record under the HDR Motor Vehicle Policy.
  • Candidates who reside locally in the Portland, OR area are preferred.
  • Desire to pursue growth opportunities
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship or employment experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm, construction contractor, or similar industry employers for mechanical machinery design projects.
