As a Senior Construction Project Manager - Remediation with Geosyntec's Kennesaw, Georgia office, you will plan, coordinate, and manage multi-disciplinary environmental and remediation focused civil construction projects, assuring projects are completed on time, on budget, and in accordance with the plans, specifications, and other contractual documents. You will manage projects while directing field teams, subcontractors, and vendors. You will work alongside our clients, engineers, and scientists representing the interests of the company and our clients during the full lifecycle of these multi-faceted environmental projects.

As a representative of Geosyntec's National Construction Services Practice, you will foster Geosyntec's vision and strategy associated with Owner Representative, Construction Quality Assurance, Construction Management, and Alternative Contracting Strategy opportunities to identify, bid, and manage our most complex environmental construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a superior technical understanding of and experience performing project and construction management along with diverse experience with multiple types of remediation, environmental, and civil construction projects. This experience will allow you to perform constructability reviews, develop cost estimates, respond to requests for proposal, recognize and utilize resource needs to develop project teams and manage projects using sound project management practices, manage subcontractors, track and maintain financial and schedule control, and effectively communicate with members of the project team from field personnel to clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement a personal business plan supporting Geosyntec's "Sell, Manage, Do" philosophy consistent with the goals of the position;
  • Collaborate with colleagues nationally to identify and capture projects meeting the strategic vision of the company and practice, typically focused on enviro-civil construction projects;
  • Manage contractors, subcontractors, and field staff to ensure completion of work in accordance with technical specifications, construction drawings, and work plans;
  • Interact with project personnel (contractors, project managers, engineers, and clients) and assist in cultivating an integrated team approach through open lines of communications;
  • Have a thorough understanding of general civil construction processes and apply them to project specific scopes of work framed in environmentally focused civil projects, including heavy equipment operations, decommissioning and demolition, soil excavation and management, piping system installation, concrete, electrical and mechanical systems installation, stormwater management, and various remediation technologies;
  • Develop and complete certification and construction completion reports;
  • Provide project delivery including development of technical specifications, Requests for Proposals, constructability reviews, "Engineer's" estimates, work plans, and other technical documents to support work product delivery;
  • Manage field staff, subcontractors, and clients on a variety of environmental remediation project ranging from soil excavation and earthworks to in-situ groundwater treatment, to waste containment systems;
  • Develop and maintain routine communications with field staff, subcontractors, clients, and other members of the project team to successfully manage and direct the execution of projects;
  • Monitor job sites activities to ensure compliance with relevant contract documents (e.g., technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, CQA plans, etc.);
  • Review daily field reports, weekly field reports, and progress reports;
  • Review data collected by field personnel and others, including soils testing and geosynthetics, geotechnical, and other data;
  • Ensure project documentation is correct and consistent with company policy and procedures;
  • Effectively communicate proposed contractor and subcontractor progress, out of scope work, work deficiencies, design modifications, and other critical project communication to members of the project team in both oral and written form in a timely and professional manner;
  • Maintain time and production records, analyze construction schedules and critical path management (CPM), and monitor construction progress;
  • Develop and write proposal documents supporting Geosyntec's efforts to build backlog and client base;
  • Provide administrative management and mentoring of junior staffing include career advancement, annual reviews, and routine personnel management; and
  • Implement and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific project health and safety plans (HASP) and the company's Health and Safety policies and procedures.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm.   • Fieldwork and overnight travel will be necessary.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction science, construction management, engineering, physical science, environmental science, or related subjects. (required)
  • Advanced Degree in engineering, construction science, construction management, engineering, physical science, environmental science, or management. (preferred)
  • Professional Engineer or Geologist. (required)
  • General Contractor License. (required)
  • Certification in project management or construction management such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM). (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 10 years of applicable experience or equivalent combination of experience, education, and training that provides the required knowledge, ability and construction and project management skills. (required)
  • Prior experience managing large multi-task environmentally focused civil or environmental remediation projects. (required)
  • Technical understanding of project management, construction management, and construction quality assurance procedures for environmental remediation projects. (required)
  • Demonstrate a strong entrepreneurial spirit for the ability to focus on the success of projects, growth of business, and expand company capabilities and service offerings. (required)
  • Effective communication skills in written and oral forms, including ability to convey information in a clear, concise, and accurate manner. (required)
  • Ability to manage multiple smaller projects simultaneously or one large multi-task environmentally focused civil or remediation project. (required)
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize project, proposal, and administrative duties. (required)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows based software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint etc.) and Critical Path Method software (e.g., Microsoft Project or Primavera). (required)
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unaided and 50-100 pounds with assistance and/or proper engineering controls. (preferred)
  • Ability to speak and hear, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • Ability to undertake and pass periodic and random drug screenings and background checks as required by clients. (required)
