The Big Picture:

Mortenson is currently seeking a Sustainable Operations Sr. Manager to join the Mortenson family. The Sustainable Operations Sr. Manager is responsible for inspiring and implementing change in Mortenson's sustainability practices in field and facility operations. This includes establishing baselines for Mortenson's current environmental performance metrics and setting and achieving environmental goals for Mortenson's operations that are measurable by 3rd parties and observable by our team members. Accountable for engaging team members through education, support, and communication to build a network of sustainability leads across project sites. Responsible for ensuring Mortenson becomes the partner of choice because we lead the AEC industry in carbon and waste reduction on our own project sites, manufacturing plants and facilities.

What will you be doing?

• Develop strong relationships with key leaders.
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders on our projects to drive best practices, innovation, standard systems, and adoption.
  1. Develop training and educational materials
  2. Collaborate on project setup and compliance issues.
• Work with project teams to innovate and implement new sustainable solutions to waste, carbon, and water.
• Build/maintain sustainability monitoring infrastructure for tracking sustainability performance in Mortenson facilities and on job sites
• Integrate sustainability monitoring with our current processes and key groups.
• Closely coordinate with Mortenson's Building Performance, especially regarding customer communication and industry/public facing communication and public relations. Represent Mortenson at conferences, industry events, conducting speaking engagements and sharing best practices.
• Work with Mortenson Property Holdings on their leased and owned properties to monitor and upgrade environmental performance.
• Engage with key teams to ensure collaboration and innovation across project sites
• All other duties as assigned

How will you succeed?

• Knowledge of the construction industry or other related field operations.
• Understanding of sustainability in an operations setting
• Proven ability to communicate and influence at all levels of an organization.
• Ability to interact with a diverse population and build relationships quickly
• Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
• Experience in - and ability to learn -various types of data analysis and the science behind environmental issues
• Ability to travel up to 35%

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum eight years of experience in operations-oriented environment.
• Current driver's license
