Railroad Public Project Track Plan Reviewer - Omaha, NE

We are seeking a Railroad Public Project Track Plan Reviewer who is an experienced railroad engineering or designer professional. As a Track Plan Reviewer, you will work primarily on various Public Projects performing full track & civil plan review services, including reviewing plans, completing quantity take-offs, reviewing specifications, etc. Additionally, you will complete field investigations, analysis, and calculations and be involved in preparing railroad engineering plans, specifications, and estimates. If you possess a robust technical design or plan review background and are a strong communicator, this role may be the perfect fit for you!

The preferred location of this position is based out of our Omaha, NE office, but other offices can be considered, including our Charlotte, NC, Milwaukee, WI, or Naperville, IL, offices. This position can be remote based on experienced.

Benesch's Railroad Division is made up of highly skilled rail professionals, many of whom are former employees of operating railroads. This firsthand experience working on designing and maintaining active rail systems uniquely equips our team to develop innovative solutions for a wide variety of rail projects.

The Impact You Will Have:
  • You will work on behalf of Railroad Clients to protect their ROW and operations and to assist in helping to deliver successful projects
  • You will work on challenging projects where you will assist agencies in getting approved projects by providing constructive comments
  • You will meet project deadlines on schedule and within budget
  • You will primarily review design plans and work closely with Project Managers and Design Engineers
  • You will also complete project design plans and work closely with Project Managers and Project Engineers
  • You will integrate data and perform a fundamental analysis of project elements
  • You will design and draft elements and details
What We Are Looking For:
  • You have 2-3 years minimum of civil engineering design for railroad projects
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • You are proficient in BlueBeam Revu tools
  • You have basic knowledge of MicroStation and Inroads, and OpenRoads Designer
  • You have excellent organizational & communication skills to communicate complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and public stakeholders.
  • You enjoy building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You enjoy problem-solving and learning new technical skills
  • You are willing to accept occasional out-of-town travel to meet project demands
