What you will be responsible for:

THE ROLE

The Director, Product Management - Trading Platforms will work with key stakeholders to manage the ongoing development of MFS trading platforms, including the Charles River Investment Management System and other key trading applications and environments across asset classes. In conjunction with trading and technology leadership, manage the business strategy, requirements setting and prioritization for streamlined work across trading systems, including project management for implementations, platform upgrades, patches, system stability, resiliency and the coordination of ongoing development. This person will manage vendor relationships, and partner with GTIO leaders to ensure technology teams can staff and execute in a manner that strengthens business outcomes. Align Agile teams dedicated to trading to meet the overall portfolio management, trading and risk needs; communicate roadmap and milestones accordingly.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • In cooperation with trading and technology leadership, organize the overall work for trading technology and workflow process, including the successful implementation, delivery and enhancement of The Charles River Investment Management System, its corresponding applications, and other key trading applications across asset classes.
  • Work with key internal and external stakeholders and leaders, including other investment division product owners, to establish and manage vision for, refine a cohesive product strategy and a corresponding roadmap.
  • In cooperation with others, envision and ensure improvements to the Platform SDLC processes that are required for trading platform stability are captured in the Agile planning process.
  • Serve as a Product Owner for one to two Agile team, as well as coordinate and harmonize a cohesive planning effort across all relevant Agile teams.
  • Manage two Product Owners. In conjunction with the Agile Enablement Office, coach toward a cohesive and consistent approach toward work for Global Trading.
  • Quarterback vendor relationships, including the Charles River Investment Management System business relationships, ensuring clear communication on development requirements, priorities, work in flight and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with the Global Trading leadership team and vendors to ensure stories are well articulated, organized and appropriated prioritized.
  • Partner with GTIO to ensure stories include clear expectations for internal vs vendor team requirements, and that communication is clear and fluid between teams.
  • Accountable for achieving business outcomes through Agile delivery. Serve as primary communicator between stakeholders, technology and operations managers and the Agile Team. Build alignment amongst all parties, including Global Technology and Investment Operations, on how to best support the business needs, including for testing and documentation.
  • Envision and build project metrics and strong feedback loops to ensure continuous sharing of information, value delivery and to continue to strengthen the Agile process.
  • Working with the Director of Global Trading and Senior Tech Director, participate in the development of the technology budget for Global Trading.
  • Collaborate with legal, risk and compliance teams to ensure product and capability roadmap improves workflow and operational risk oversight capabilities and aligns to policy and regulation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on models and applications to support bespoke workflows, which may include trade and broker allocation, surveillance and analytics to support best execution.
  • Develop clear acceptance criteria that guide the team to producing "done" increments, while fostering an iterative approach to problem solving and analytics development.
  • Actively manages internal and external dependencies and impediments that could impact the team's completion of sprint goals. Actively collaborates with other product owners on work that has interdependencies or contingencies between Agile teams.
  • Participates in scrum ceremonies (Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Retrospective) and longer-term planning exercises (Road Mapping, Release Planning).
  • Participates in the internal Agile Enablement efforts to exchange knowledge and build skills.
  • Continually enhances knowledge of systems, products, emerging technology and industry dynamics, and educates internal teams accordingly.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Master's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 12-15 years' experience in supporting trading applications, with deep subject matter expertise on The Charles River Investment Management System, trading data and analytics and more.
  • Experience operating as a Product Owner on an Agile Team, and/or a background in leading and organizing large strategic projects and navigating the needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the investment and trading process, investment data and corresponding technologies.
  • Proven ability to align functional domain expertise and solutions to meet the changing demands of clients, competitors, and regulators.
  • Open-minded approach to problem solving - commercial, yet creative
  • Excellent communication skills, self-starter, positive attitude, team player
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and management skills, including the ability to work across the organization and interact/influence/negotiate effectively at all levels of management and peers.
