SUMMARY

The Territory Manager achieves increased sales revenue and profitability within the Florida territory. The Territory Manager manages and/or develops business in an assigned territory and communicates information pertinent to sales progress with the sales team and next-level managers. Focus may include distribution, specification, contractor, government agency, training, safety, and education. Demonstrates behavior consistent with the company's values of Customer Satisfaction, Innovation, Family, and Social Responsibility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maximizes sales through specification, distributors, contractors, and developers by calling on key clients within customer base. Develops relationships, monitors major projects, and takes action to increase product exposure and success.
  • Contacts distributor sales and operations and/or specification personnel, as well as other irrigation professionals on a regular basis. Creates a demand for products at these levels to assist distribution with sales goals.
  • Executes customer training programs, trade shows, and promotional events.
  • Performs field service and support as required. May administer warranty policies and procedures in line with company policy.
  • Recommends distribution changes as necessary and informs management of events, territory occurrences, and other pertinent information. May alert management of potential customer credit problems and may recommend credit line adjustments.
  • Proposes individual budget requirements. Manages expenditures within budget, saving money whenever possible, and seeking approval for items or events outside of approved budget. Submits timely expense reimbursement requests in line with company policy.
  • Assists in collecting market data for forecasts and reporting, which can encompass regional, competitive, and contractor pricing, as well as area programs (i.e., home builder) as required.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration, marketing or landscape architecture preferred.

  • Self-starter, motivated, team focused and results driven

  • Strong presentation, organizational, and time management skills

  • Demonstrated track record of exceeding corporate goals

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong technical skills and aptitude; ability to present technical concepts with hands-on demonstrations to customers

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Ability to travel within assigned geographic territory

  • Valid driver's license and good DMV record

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED AND PREFERRED

  • KSA #1: Knowledge of selling, pricing, marketing, and distribution models within the industry. Effective selling and presentation skills, with the demonstrated ability to attain sales goals. Ability to explain and sell the features and benefits of all Westlake Pipe & Fittings products and to conduct associated training and educational programs. Requires strong commitment to customer service.
  • KSA #2: Technical knowledge of company and competitor products. Ability to perform field service, troubleshoot systems, and recommend solutions, as well as demonstrate side by side product comparisons.
  • KSA #3: Knowledge of finance and budgeting processes. Ability to manage expenses within budget.
  • KSA #4: Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships and to provide a high level of customer service and support.
  • KSA #5: Ability to travel extensively, live in a strategic location within the territory, and work flexible hours.
  • KSA #6: Basic computer skills with ability to use Windows programs and to perform word processing, spreadsheet, and database management on a personal computer.
  • KSA #7: Valid driver's license and driving record sufficient to meet requirements to be insured by company. Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport.
  • KSA #8: Product-appropriate advanced level technical expertise and certifications preferred.
  • KSA #9: Fluency in other languages commonly spoken within the region preferred. Knowledge of regional business and cultural practices preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to sit to use the computer and to perform paperwork activities. Ability to climb stairs to gain access to upper-level work area.
  • Intermittently walking and standing to move about and to perform work within the office, customer locations and field sites. Requires the ability to walk on uneven terrain at field sites and stand for multiple hours.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds to assist in set-ups and take-downs at trade shows.
  • Ability to work in a variety of positions (bending, kneeling, crouching, standing) to perform set-ups and take-downs at trade shows, product change-outs and irrigation system/product troubleshooting.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination sufficient to set-up and take-down displays at trade shows.
  • Finger dexterity sufficient to use a computer and to complete paperwork activities.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to use a computer and to complete paperwork activities.
  • Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Various locations with varying temperatures, floor surfaces and exposure to seasonal elements.

Job can require up to 60-70% travel.
