Job Description

The Control Department supports the execution, reconciliation and payment of fund level dividend and capital gains distribution events as well as all commissions paid to intermediaries that sell MFS funds. The group also supports daily pricing activity to ensure the shareholder recordkeeping system has been updated each business day. Additional responsibilities include identifying and analyzing mutual fund share differences and taking appropriate corrective action to ensure the transfer agent records reconcile to the custodian banks.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Reconcile payment of Weekly and Trail commissions. Submits and monitors related SS&C jobs and resolves discrepancies.
  • Initiate and reconcile all fund distribution events for shareholders and custodian banks.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining all system settings and functionality of the SS&C systems related to Dividends and Commissions.
  • Responsible for all audit documentation provided to both internal and external audit firms.
  • Acts as a liaison with each Custodian Bank and other financial institutions.
  • Serves as a resource to management for complex issues and problem resolution. Communicates with internal departments to expedite the resolution to increase efficiency and improve customer services.
  • Manages non-periodic tasks to ensure that all deliverables are met on-time. Provides subject matter expertise for assigned functions, including participating in projects with an impact on assigned functions..
  • Ensures Internal Control Matrix and departmental procedures are maintained and updated.
  • Displays project management skills that require long term planning and communication with all stakeholders.
  • Supports the mutual fund pricing process as an afterhours contact for problem resolution as needed. This can be done from home, does not require you to be in office and has a rotation amongst the team.
  • Trains, advises, and assists team members with department functions and problem resolution.
  • Utilizes Microsoft Office products and vendor applications to perform reconciliations, prepare reports to resolve discrepancies for department tasks to ensure consistent delivery of quality service to clients.
  • Performs additional duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 3-4+ years of industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work independently, manages multiple projects, and prioritizes work.
  • Strong analytical and decision making skills.
  • Strong written/oral communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
