Primary Responsibilities

HDR is looking for a Construction Manager to join our Water Business Group in Atlanta, GA. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years' progressive experience in the delivery, management, and oversight of construction projects which could include water and wastewater treatment facilities and linear infrastructure projects. They will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of individual projects as well as a portfolio of construction projects in multiple states for our growing municipal water business while coordinating and engaging directly with project, design, and client management teams working on the delivery of these projects. They must be comfortable in a position of authority, with effective communication skills. They must also be an organized, detail oriented problem solver capable of working in a team environment. They will partner with our design teams and technical staff for the construction phase of projects to ensure the successful implementation of designs into installed infrastructure. This will include the coordination of submittal review, RFI response, change and field order documentation and issuance, resolution of construction claims, and day to day coordination with general contractors on schedule and quality of work. This position will require continuous contact with clients and general contractors regarding ongoing construction projects. It may require occasional field construction inspection and frequent on-site visits to active construction sites.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, Construction Science or closely related field

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction related field

  • Microsoft Office Suite experience is required

  • Excellent communication, leadership and planning skills, and ability to thrive in a team environment

  • Position requires very strong skills in working with general contractors and managing the overall construction process

  • Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with construction management software packages and Microsoft Office, Prolog, Primavera, and related programs is preferred

  • Hands on experience working with construction documentation preferred

  • Local candidates are preferred
