Railroad Real Estate Public Project Consultant - Omaha, Nebraska

Benesch is hiring a Real Estate Public Projects Consultant to support and assist the owning railroad's Real Estate Department Public Projects Managers in the negotiation and preparation of multiple forms of agreements with public agencies and other private entities who wish to use the railroad's property for road crossings and similar/related facilities. In this position, you will ensure the safety and integrity of the railroad's property.

The ideal successful candidate will have experience in real estate, law, and engineering disciplines. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely or in one of Benesch's offices, depending on location.

The Impact You Will Have:
  • You will be collaborative and will work with managers and support staff located in other office locations
  • You will coordinate projects through the owning railroad approval processes, including but not limited to the legal description and survey reviews and appraisal and valuation methods.
  • You will review and analyze engineering/construction plans related to road crossings, drainage, utilities, and similar or related third-party construction projects.
  • You will manage and coordinate real estate, engineering, and legal department reviews, including processing, documenting, and maintaining project-related records and agreements in the railroad's engineering, real estate, and accounting systems.
What You Will Need:
  • You have a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Pre-law, Law, Real Estate, Business, or Engineering
  • You consider yourself to be analytical and have excellent problem-solving skills
  • You are professional and can communicate with all internal departments, the general public, and clients
  • You strive to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • You are organized, detail-oriented, and have strong time management skills
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) skill
Preferred:
  • Contract/agreement negotiation and drafting experience
  • Real estate appraisal and valuation experience
  • Understanding of survey and legal descriptions
  • Understanding of basic engineering principles
  • Understanding and experience with engineering and construction plans
