GHD has an opportunity for Entry Level Consultants with Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Fire Protection Engineering), Construction Management or Architecture, within our US West Fire Life Safety (FLS) Business Group in one of GHD's offices in California.

The position will support a wide variety of projects by providing fire protection and life safety consulting, system design and field work. The candidates should be interested in developing innovative and concise solutions, use research-based approaches, and apply multidisciplinary knowledge to reduce fire risks to people and properties. GHD FLS Group supports Future Communities by assisting in providing services for Healthcare, Higher Education, Transportation, Research and Development, Renewable & Future Energy, Federal, Residential and Commercial projects.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Fire Life Safety Consulting to End-users, Architects/Engineers (A/E) Firms, and Governmental Agencies
  • Design Documents for Fire Protection, Fire Alarm and Special Suppression Systems.
  • Preparing Building/Fire and Life Safety Code Analysis/Reports
  • Fire and Egress Computer Modeling and Analysis
  • Design, Testing, and Commissioning of Smoke Control Systems
  • Developing Engineering Judgements and Performance Based Design Approaches
  • Evaluation of Existing Building Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems
  • Client Relations/Communications
  • Presentations to Stakeholders
  • Team Collaboration

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Fire Protection Engineering), Construction Management or Architecture, or related field
  • 0 to 3 years of experience
  • Knowledge of Built Environment Construction
  • Bluebeam, AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Revit knowledge is desirable
