Mortenson is searching for a strategic Director of Supply Chain Management who will be responsible for developing and leading a growing supply chain group in one of the nation's leading construction organizations. The Director will ensure all supply chain programs, practices, and systems are effective, sustainable, scalable, and have a positive impact on the short and long-term performance of the organization. Supply Chain Strategy

  • Build business cases that support strategic sourcing teams and make recommendations to optimize the application of the strategic sourcing process.
  • Assess existing and desired functions to design and implement a new supply chain organization that incorporates:
  • Provide centralized leadership to designated aspects of construction project-specific procurement and identify aspects that necessitate independent, site-level procurement.
  • Establish strong and effective relationships with key suppliers (existing and new) to ensure quality, cost, delivery, and productivity targets are met.
  • Collaborate across all business functions to formulate, implement, and execute sourcing and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Monitor and analyze industry trends/best practices for supply chain and incorporate in Mortenson, if appropriate.
  • Champion superior customer service by ensuring a customer focused approach and strong service orientation.
  • Develop sustainable, long-term strategies to achieve business objectives for the Supply Chain function and contribute to Company-wide strategy. Provide thought leadership and strategic ideas to the broader Supply Chain group and businesses.
  • Leverage the combined buying power of Mortenson's operations.

People Leadership

  • Develop a strong team and talent pipeline.
  • Coach and mentor team to optimize individual performance and growth.
  • Lead the work of Sourcing Managers and their team of buyers.
  • Responsible for establishing strategies for sourcing/supply chain with process excellence focus.

  • Promote teamwork, collaboration, and integration within Supply Chain and across Mortenson to provide integrated solutions and ensure effective delivery of strategy.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of six years' experience in supply chain roles or similar business experience with increasing levels of responsibility and a demonstrated track record of success
  • Experience leading a geographically dispersed team is a plus.
  • Proven ability to analyze, develop, and oversee supply chain programs in alignment with an organization's long-term goals and strategy is required.
  • Experience in complex, large scale custom manufacturing or construction is strongly preferred.
  • Previous success leading transformational, organization-wide change is required
  • Direct experience developing and implementing a new initiative is key
  • Strong leadership skills and collaborative work style
  • Successful track record of identifying innovative approaches and solutions to apply complex business issues.
  • Strong strategic thinking and influence skills are required
  • Proven manager of people, including hiring, coaching, and mentoring a team of professionals to anticipate Company needs and achieve short and long-term goals.
  • Collaborative by nature, model a healthy "player/coach" approach and have proven success working cross-functionally to implement a progressive Supply Chain organization.
