Process Engineering Director - Large Capital Programs

Albemarle Corporation is currently seeking an R&T Program Director for a portfolio of major capital projects.

The position will be housed within the Bromine Research and Technology organization and can be based at our Process Development Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; at our plant in Magnolia, Arkansas or at our offices in Charlotte, NC or Houston, Texas.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall process technology program (R&T program managers; process design; technology licensors/guardians; process automation; commissioning and startup) associated with a portfolio of projects in range of $150 MM to $ 300 MM.

  • Coach and develop team members

  • Collaborate closely with other project functions and personnel including project management, discipline engineering, procurement, planning and scheduling, construction, manufacturing representative.

  • Build out the process technology team for the programs

  • Assure that the overall process technology basis is sound and optimized

  • Assure that all process technology deliverables are on-time and of high quality

  • Assure that commissioning and startup is well planned in advance and executed according to the project timeline.

Required Experience:

  • B.S degree or higher in chemical engineering with 20+ years of experience

  • Proven ability to lead a large, multi-disciplinary technical organization or project team.

  • Proven track record of success in at least three of the following: process design; process development; process optimization; capital project engineering; and manufacturing operations

  • Experience in commissioning and startup of a chemical process plant

  • Strong grasp of chemical engineering fundamentals and ability to bring a fundamental approach to technology selection and process design

  • Ability to work independently with limited technical oversight.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in processing and handling of bromine, chlorine, fluorine, etc

  • Solids handling experience
