Vernadero Group Inc. (Vernadero) is a Veteran-Owned Business founded in 1999 to provide environmental, planning and infrastructure program support to Federal, State and Regional agency projects and activities throughout the United States and its territories. Vernadero is seeking a GIS Project Manager to provide geospatial support for the US Army National Guard (ARNG). The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a small project team implementing ARNG geospatial support services. The position supporting the ARNG G9 geospatial requirements is a full-time, permanent position, located in Alexandria, Virginia. This is a hybrid work position with on-site support requirements and off-site teleworking opportunities.
Candidates should possess the following minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in geography, landscape architecture, planning, environmental science, or related field
Minimum of 8 years of professional geospatial and geodatabase experience
Experience managing professional project teams
Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS ArcPro and ArcGIS Enterprise
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Ability to write and maintain spatial data metadata
Produce sophisticated maps for technical reports and mapping programs
Knowledge of federal regulations applicable to geospatial data management and control
Excellent written and oral communications skills including dealing with senior officials
Highly organized, fast learner, and able to work in a complex environment
U.S. citizenship and ability to travel nationwide
Valid U.S. driver's license
Ability to achieve Government security clearance
Preference will be given to candidates that possess:
Graduate degree in a geography, landscape architecture, planning, environmental science or related field
GISP Certification
Experience leading GIS and geospatial support training classes
Experience with Army and ARNG geospatial databases and infrastructure
Experience with the Department of Army, ARNG, and relevant ARNG policy directives
Experience with SDSFIE version 4.0
Experience with the Department of the Army databases and software packages
Specific responsibilities for the GIS Project Manager may include the following:
Project plan development, outlining the team's approach to geospatial objectives, including the generation of timelines and flowcharts illustrating the process
Communicating directly with ARNG stakeholders in multiple states
Creating monthly status reports and conduct in-progress review meetings
Manage a team of GIS Analyst in the development of common installation picture (CIP) data layers, metadata and SDSFIE migration of several terabytes of data
Take a direct role in the design and development of an ArcGIS Enterprise Site
Responsible for creating a geospatial site web design document, outlining organization and management of the ARNG-G9 ArcGIS Enterprise Portal
