Job Description

SUMMARY

We have a great opportunity for a Reliability Engineer to join our Westlake Epoxy team. This role will provide technical assistance to the maintenance supervision in the repair and improvement of all process equipment throughout the plant. You will play an active role in managing the site's Process Safety Management (PSM) program, and specifically the management of the mechanical integrity program. In addition, this role will provide fixed asset management and project management oversight for site improvements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Demonstrates strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety.
  • Provide technical assistance to maintenance supervision in the repair and improvement of all process equipment.
  • Serve as an active member of the site's PHA team, as well as play an active role in MOC management.
  • Develop and manage site initiatives and projects from project manager role with the intent to improve site performance and reliability.
  • Perform structured equipment failure analysis and develop solutions that address root causes to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Coordinate with corporate mechanical integrity group to manage KPI reports, identification of improvement opportunities, and execution of improvement plans.
  • Develop and improve maintenance procedures and Preventative Maintenance plans/schedules for inspection and repair of equipment.
  • Follow equipment repair in shops to ensure timely and proper repair.
  • Actively participate in process improvement programs such as Six Sigma, etc. aimed at delivering productivity improvements for the site.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required; PE, CMRP, API 510 certifications a plus, but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance/reliability work in the petrochemical industry.
  • Ability to use failure analysis technique (i.e. root cause analysis) to determine and correct equipment problems.
  • Significant experience with rotating and stationary equipment.
  • Knowledge of pumps, seals, shop processes, ASME code (Sec. VIII), corrosion, metallurgy, vibration analysis, and lubrication.
  • Must be very familiar with OSHA's process safety management standard regarding mechanical integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills and problem solving ability.
  • Strong work planning and organizational skills required.
  • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in the Microsoft suite and SAP.
  • Able to work independently and as a team player.

Flexible Schedule: Option to work a 9/80 work schedule, which allows an employee to work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Additionally, this position must make general decisions requiring judgement and perform activities requiring sustained concentration.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is sometimes moderate when working in an office, however, some of the work may be required in the operating units which mandates usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
