Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Responsible for providing skilled craftsmanship for installation of formwork, finish carpentry and drywall. Responsible for smoothing and finishing surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, sidewalks, or curbs to specified textures, using appropriate tools (i.e., hand or power tools, floats, trowels, screeds).

The base compensation range for this role is $19-$33 per hour. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skill and experience with consideration given to internal equity.

KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

A. Study blueprints, sketches or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard. Measures the dimensions of structure of fixture to be fabricated

B. Concrete and rough carpentry

1. Hand set walls

2. Footings

3. Set gang wall forms

4. Structural concrete decks

5. Slab on metal deck and grade

6. Concrete columns

7. Drywall

C. Finish carpentry, doors and hardware

1. Set door frames, hang doors, and install hardware

2. Finish carpentry: toilet accessories, hand rails, corner guards, toilet partitions, lockers, upper cabinets, lower cabinets, countertops, wall paneling systems, coffered ceiling systems and running trim

D. Spread concrete to specified depth and workable consistency

E. Level, smooth, and shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete

F. Finish concrete surfaces using power trowel, or wet and rub concrete with abrasive stone to create finish

G. Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder or chisel and hammer

H. Patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound

I. Mold expansion joints and edges

J. Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary

K. Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels

L. All other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

A. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

B. Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy

C. Ability to picture solid objects from drawings or diagrams

D. Some ability to read plans

E. Ability to operate equipment such as: table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging and form systems

F. Strong teamwork orientation

I. Knowledge of equipment and their uses

J. Understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication)
