Description
We invite applications for a Non-Tenure-Line Assistant or Associate Lecturer in Exercise Science in the School of Kinesiology. Candidates with a doctorate may be considered for the rank of Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor. The successful candidate will provide high quality teaching in the undergraduate Exercise Science program. Potential courses include applied strength and conditioning for sport performance, exercise prescription, human performance assessments, anatomy, and/or other courses based upon knowledge and expertise. Active engagement in department, college, University, and professional service activities is also expected.

We seek candidates who will connect with students of diverse backgrounds and contribute to a campus climate that supports equity, diversity, and inclusion. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with credentials and experience.

This opportunity is for one academic year with the possibility of renewal beginning August 18, 2023. Salary begins at $48,000.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have a master's degree in exercise science, biomechanics, exercise physiology, kinesiology, or closely related field from an accredited college or university by time of appointment. Teaching experience in higher education and the ability to teach courses in exercise science using a variety of instructional strategies, including online, face-to-face, experiential and field-based learning are also required.
Authorization to work in the US Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred candidates will hold a professional certification related to sport performance or strength and conditioning. Additional consideration will be given to applicants who have experience and expertise leading strength and conditioning and sport performance programming for athletes, experience with biomechanical analysis and assessment of movement for corrective exercise, and who have experience teaching courses related to sport performance, movement and performance assessments, and exercise prescription.

College/Department Information
The School of Kinesiology provides comprehensive educational programs related to understanding the impact physical activity has on health, society, and quality of life for the general population as well as children, older adults, athletes, and people with disabilities, injuries, or disease. The School features about 35 committed faculty members and approximately 750 students through undergraduate programs in aquatics, coaching, exercise science, physical education and health, and sport administration, and graduate programs in athletic coaching education, athletic training, biomechanics, clinical exercise physiology, exercise physiology, sport administration, sport and exercise psychology, and human bioenergetics (PhD). As part of the University Core Curriculum, the School also houses the physical fitness and wellness (PFW) program that reflects Ball State's commitment to positively impacting quality of life and the University's mission of students living meaningful lives and thriving in fulfilling careers. To support our students and faculty, the School also houses 7 state of the art laboratories for both teaching and research: Human Performance Laboratory (HPL), Clinical Exercise Physiology Laboratory, Biomechanics Laboratory, Sport and Exercise Psychology Laboratory, Undergraduate Exercise Science and First Aid Laboratory, Integrative Exercise Physiology Laboratory, and the Athletic Training Teaching and Research Laboratory.

The College of Health is moving boldly forward in making interprofessional education, practice and research its paradigm across its disciplines. The College offers 32 academic programs in 7 units: Departments of Counseling Psychology, Social Psychology, and Counseling; Military Science; Nutrition and Health Science; Speech Pathology and Audiology; and Social Work plus the Schools of Nursing and Kinesiology. Our 224 faculty and staff serve nearly 3,000 students. We partner with regional communities for immersive learning and research. Our Health Professions Building was opened in 2019 with 165,000 square feet and is LEED Gold certified. Our Interprofessional Community Clinics offers a range of health and mental health services by students supervised by faculty as well as community health education and prevention services through the Healthy Lifestyle Center. Other facilities include the Health and Physical Activity (HP) complex, Ball Gymnasium, and Lewellen Aquatic Center. Our faculty and students contribute to the evidence base for their respective disciplines. Our research footprint features research institutes, including the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies and Human Performance Lab.
